Come on, I hope you don't think there is some kind of plot behind this to have RM win La Liga? THEY were ridiculous when they insinuated that Villar helped Barcelona, now we shouldn't do the same... The referees are just bad, they make a lot of mistakes but it's because of media pressure not because of corruption... Website like Marca and As are constantly blaming them for everything because they're friends with Florentino. Every time there is a decision against them (or for Barcelona) they talk about it for weeks. When it's in their favor (or against Barcelona) they forget to mention it. Yesterday was far too obvious so they talked about it but they were more criticizing the referee than the ridiculous behaviour of Pepe...
Mundo Deportivo and Sport do the exact same thing for Barcelona but they are faaaaaar less read so it doesn't really matter. Referees are constantly threatened by supporters, players, coaches and even presidents... These last 2 is even worse because players and supporters are 'stupid' and often react on the moment. But coaches and presidents are f-ing managers, they should be the examples to follow and be more objective but it's just the opposite. Mourinho played this card very well when he was in RM and it worked well (see the number of red cards not given after he said 'we always play with 10 against Barcelona'... Or the amount of penalty kick they've had these last 3 years).
Referees are human and can make mistakes like strikers losing a 1v1 with a GK... Of course the referee system is very politic and flawed on most levels, and of course the referees in Spain are particularly bad. But what's worse than them is the people that constantly blame them for everything: supporters, players, coach, president and the worst of all, medias.
There's a catalan blogger I follow that often talks about this theme and it's very interesting. Of course he's a bit biased because he's catalan, but he tries to be objective and often criticize Barca too. He also gives deep strategic analysis, some of you guys might like that! Try to search him on google: Cristian Pulina, or Pulina Cristian blogspot (everything in Spanish though :o).

Yes this is exactly what I'm saying. Is it really that hard to believe? Juventus got dropped from Calcio for buying games and no one gave a crap. Armstrong accepted to using enhancement drugs, just like so many bikers.
Do you remember the CL group with one the final games being Ajax vs Madrid? If you really think OL winning 7-1 and the two Ajax goals being disallowed were a coincidence, you are too naive and should grow up a bit... or else you will be "the prey of sharks" in this world xD
The 11-12 season of La Liga was totally Madrid's from the start, no matter what. Barça had won the 3 Ligas before and the big guns of Spain plotted so Madrid got it, because they could have never accepted a 4th Catalan victory. The Madrid games were robbery after robbery.

wow, neither Barca or RM should ever complain about biased referees, really - thats like the highest hypocrisy you can go for
Ok so I can call some random friend of mine who is a supporter of Bilbao so he can speak the truth instead? C'mon.
Maybe you mean Madrid being pure mafia should be covered because Barça got randomly helped against Chelsea? Get over it already. We got robbed in the first game of that series too, and you english dudes would call all those "penalties" ball to hand if it was the other way around, surely.
Nope I'm sure Barça gets helped by the ref lol. That's not even a question, it happened against Sevilla last week for example. They sometimes get robbed too. Happens to every team derp.

lol dude. if someone was in control surely they would make the league so that you didn't just have two teams alternating between winning. seems exceptionally stupid to claim that la liga is rigged, when it is basically the football league in the world that struggles the most with predictable outcomes.
I mean, people generally like to watch technical, offensive football the most. that applies even to followers of the premier league. la liga is absolutely the #1 league in this regard and has been for a decade. Yet, many think it's really boring to follow, because the best two teams play less than 10 exciting games through the year. And if they really wanted real madrid to win without raising suspicion, couldn't they just also rob barcelona of some points? barcelona won 5 games with just 1 goal that season, those could easily be made into draws by the referee! oh and real madrid won by 9 points anyway, why not just make it 3 or so, to make it exciting all the way through?
I'm sorry but what you just posted is just... hugely discrediting to yourself. you're gonna have to submit some better proof than "they didn't want the catalans to win 4 years in a row" if you're gonna go around making claims like "real madrid had won the league before it started because the big guys in control wanted it that way".
On September 27 2013 00:23 Liquid`Drone wrote: man.. from an outsiders perspective, it seems like barcelona and real madrid both get massive referee help. neither significantly more than the other, and any barcelona or real madrid fan who whines about the referee help the other team has received should really just stop with the selective memory, confirmation bias and notion that everything is against them.
and besides.. when you examine all leagues, there's a significant trend that the top teams do get SLIGHTLY favored by the referees, even over a whole season. but the main thing is just that the decisions that go against real madrid or barcelona are statistically likely to come during games where they already leading by two or three goals, so it doesn't matter. whereas decisions that favour them never come during a period of time where they are down by 3 goals, because that never happens. and real madrid and barcelona players alike never cheat when they are leading by 3 goals - they cheat when they are behind or drawing. thus, the age old concept of mathematics perfectly well explains why teams like real madrid and barcelona end up looking like they're getting a lot of referee help; the decisions that go against them are mostly irrelevant, and referees are significantly more likely to screw up because real madrid and barcelona players are significantly more likely to cheat when the scoreline is even. there's no reason to reach for some conspiracy of any sort, as this is perfectly explainable without one.

But what would be the point of letting another club win when Barca and Madrid have by faaaaaar the largest support domestically and worldwide. Getting smaller teams to concede goals to the big 2 will only help those 2 get bigger and wealthier. I don't think that the league is actually rigged though or that there is some huge plot to favour the big 2, but I do believe that match fixing is a bit more common than people think. After seeing things like the disallowed Sevilla goal vs Barca and this last minute RM penalty how can you not believe that there is match fixing? Those calls are not the actions of an unbiased referee.
Also, like Salteador mentioned, the RM/Ajax/Lyon/Zagreb CL group 2 years ago was so blatantly rigged on the last matchday I can't believe nothing ever came of it.
LMAO according to Marca and COPE, the Elche vs Madrid ref is gonna get sanctioned... by not refereeing any other Elche game this season. Hahahaha these guys crack me up!
And he is getting sanctioned because of the Sevilla vs Barça game too. Balls of steel.
edit: The Catalan media are saying something else. Let's wait and see
as for last night, I thought the penalty call was correct the first time I saw it. (well, frankly it was more of a "hm, I wanna see the replay of that, but first impression is that yay finally a referee which punishes the constant wrestling matches that happen during corners.) I'm not a referee, but I absolutely cannot fault someone for getting it wrong in the heat of the moment.
as for individual matches, yes. individual matches are sometimes fixed. but it's usually not stuff like the entire outcome of the game, because that requires the participation of many players, or the referee to make many blatantly wrong calls that can be really damaging for their career. but that's not the issue anyway here, nobody is disputing that there is occasional match fixing, but that's a very, very different thing from league fixing. what would they have done if ronaldo broke his leg during the first week of the season?

So, did you see a replay of it? Or are you just taking the piss?
This is a free kick for the defender no matter what league you play in.
To be honest, they have the same problem as the men. They did have that stupid Hope Powell managing them for to long though, but they have NEVER turned up at a major tournament lol. They did worst than our U21s in the Womens EURO championships this summer lol. So don't jump on there bandwaggon either XD
Beat Belarus weekend 6-0? 7-0 up vs Turkey atm xD I think the womens teams aren't so good unless its; Germany Japan USA xD

yes, when I saw the replay I clearly saw that it wasn't a penalty and that it was pepe pulling him.. but based on my initial reaction, you know, the one referees actually need to base their decision on, I thought that it could very well be a penalty.

Ok I thought for a second you meant that it wasn't a penalty.
But heat of the moment or not, I simply cannot accept that a referee qualified to work at the highest level of the game can make such a mind blowingly bad decision. I mean, he was standing 10 feet away or less. You see linesmen make correct offside calls from across the entire width of the pitch and yet apparently from 10 feet away this man cant see (in perfect view) Pepe pulling his markers arm. If he can't see that then he should be sent to learn how to referee again, to the optometrist, and to the lower leagues for a while. But then again this is football and referees have power to utterly ruin a game and get away with no consequences.
