Sky Sports’ News Andy Burton brings us an update on Juan Mata, who has been linked with a move away from Chelsea all summer despite Jose Mourinho insisting he remains a key part of his plans at Stamford Bridge. Paris St Germain have been linked with a late swoop but it is understood that there is no truth in those reports and he will be staying with the Blues. Yup.

Ronaldo's technique is amazing but in the end he's playing for the camera and for himself. Bale is a more intelligent player imo, he's a more powerful one and his ability to score from wherever the hell he wants is unrivaled right now. It doesn't matter at all when and at what age a player starts to realize his potential. How does performing well at one of the biggest clubs in the world and growing out to be their best player have nothing to do with how much potential a player has? For all his selfishness he has been giving a lot of assists at both United and Real Madrid and I would think the amount of goals he scores warrants a bit of selfishness. Their career stats are skewed because Bale played his first 2 premier league seasons as a left back. Not saying he has the potential to be better than Ronaldo, but you're seriously misrepresenting his growth. He has been evolving into a world beater for a while. Ronaldo has been scoring 20+ goals since he broke trough and that was when he was 21 or 22. You're right that Bale has been making a lot of progress though and he is a very good player I just don't see him having the same amount of potential as Ronaldo.

A question though, what's easier performing with a team that fights for the title or one that fights for spot in Europe? We'll see how he does at Real and then our questions will be answered ![]() (La Decima is still far away though as far as I'm concerned :D )

A lot of people blame him for Arsenal's decline, because it coincides with his arrival and because he hasn't really invested any money into the team. You're right that Bale has been making a lot of progress though and he is a very good player I just don't see him having the same amount of potential as Ronaldo. You're right, but Ronaldo always had more freedom to roam than Bale. Gary Neville wrote a piece last year about how the veteran players at Man Utd would get frustrated with Ronaldo for abandoning his position and just going wherever he wanted, but he'd always do something incredible to make up for it. Bale, on the other hand, was forced to stay on the left wing and deliver crosses for such fine strikers as Crouch and Pavlyuchenko. It was only last year when AVB took the chains off and let Bale play a more "Ronaldo-esque" role. So even though it's true that Ronaldo was scoring 20+ goals at age 21-22, and Bale only started doing so at age 23, we don't know what Bale would have been capable of at age 21 if he had the same tactical freedom. I still don't think Bale will end up better than Ronaldo, but that has more to do with Ronaldo's evolution at Madrid than anything else. He's much better now than he ever was at Man Utd.
