WTH would pay 36 Millions for him? Thats retarded. Bayen payed the same amout for Götze and only 25 million for Thiago.
release clause afaik.

I really hope we wrap up the Herrera and Fellaini transfers today ..Baines would be a bonus I think.. If nothing happens Ima cry and go to sleep honestly id just be happy with herrera our defence is quite solid so i dont see the club being desperate for baines. and our past games have shown that we can retain possession quite well, its just we lack the final pass to convert into a goal. fellaini isnt gonna solve that. Not sure if a deal with Bilbao is possible, they can be quite stubborn. Of course, like every player in Spain he has a release clause ... There's a 50% tax if the buyout clause is used, so that's not happening. I am pretty sure Bayern activated Martinez' clause without paying 50% tax. I don't know how they did it though. Here's a better explanation on the tax thing, courtesy of Sid Lowe:
Athletic Bilbao remain steadfast in their refusal to voluntarily sell Ander Herrera. Manchester United’s ability to sign the midfielder will depend on their resolve to test the rules governing buy-out clauses in Spain and the response of the league and the tax authorities to their actions. Here, it becomes very complicated in theory. Every player in Spain has a formal rescission clause, registered with the league which fixes the amount at which a player can unilaterally end his contract and move to another club. That player deposits the amount stipulated in his clause (in Herrera’s case, €36m) with the league and is then free to move. Clubs agreed in principle that if another club pays the buy-out clause they will sell at that total price, meaning that the player does not actually pay the money: it effectively becomes a transfer like any other. But when it is a hostile bid, two other scenarios open up: one, that the club accepts the buy-out fee but, as all Spanish companies do, adds VAT (at 21%). And two, when the club does not accept the fee at all, the player deposits the money at the league himself. Of course, in practice Herrera does not have €36m lying around, so United could in theory pay the money on his behalf. Yet that could be challenge by both the tax authorities and the league itself as the player would strictly be liable for 50% income tax. None of this has been tested and some experts believe United would face no legal challenge. And yet the whole transfer is complicated enough to cause a few headaches on both sides.
In short: it's complicated!

Haha, I'm reading he was rated at 10m, which is ridiculous. Now down to 5 though. He's strong, but he isn't very good building up. Also, he's quite stupid at times and still makes rookie mistakes occasionally. He's also been dropped from the Dutch squad in favor of the PSV CB's, and to be honest, I think the entire Feyenoord (Martins Indi, Mathijssen, De Vrij) is looking pretty weak this season. I'd say 5m is more than enough for a player I don't hope Everton plans on using as a starter... Oh please. You are basing your opinion too much on recent performances with feyenoord. He can be a fine replacement for disdane, who isn't getting any younger. Besides the psv CB's were said to be the biggest defensive talents at the club and for rekik in particular that says a lot with guys like Kongolo and Ake in his team.
Also 10mil is mostly because of contract length'. BMI has one of the longest contracts, unfortunately our TD has made it far too.clear that he is for sale so 5mil is about right.

So I didn't see much talking about it, so my question: Is Bale actually worth that ~100mio €? Surely he's a great player, but since I first read about the deal, I can't help but think he's bound to be called Gareth Fale sooner or later.

Arsenal have loaned Palermo goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano.
They just said on Sky that Kaka's move from Real Madrid to Milan was a free transfer. So Milan sold him to Madrid for about 60 million pounds, then got him back for free. Great piece of business.

He's got the potential to be better than Ronaldo, that's for sure. But 100 million is too much for any player in the world.
|
I went to YouTube and apparently, the 2 hour 40 minute video of Bale's presentation has over 650.000 views already. Huh? Ain't nobody got time for that? Well, at least this might explain where Real will get their money back from...
By the way:
+ Show Spoiler +
EDIT: And yeah, if Bale had more potential than Ronaldo, he would be already better than him.

No way does he have more potential than Ronaldo. Bale has had one good season in which he scored more than 10 goals and played CL like what once? Ronaldo on Bale's age was already a proven player at a top team scoring left and right.

That's got about nothing to do with how much potential a player has. Ronaldo's technique is amazing but in the end he's playing for the camera and for himself. Bale is a more intelligent player imo, he's a more powerful one and his ability to score from wherever the hell he wants is unrivaled right now.
It doesn't matter at all when and at what age a player starts to realize his potential.

So a 2 time PFA Player of the Season has had one good season? Bale was never given Ronaldo's freedom until last year. Look at his progression (2010-11 was his first Player of the Season award):

Also, Ronaldo only had one better scoring season at Man Utd than Bale had last year. Their career stats are skewed because Bale played his first 2 premier league seasons as a left back. Not saying he has the potential to be better than Ronaldo, but you're seriously misrepresenting his growth. He has been evolving into a world beater for a while.
