The champions league has its special flavour from the matches between teams that don't meet regularly. If iIhad to choose between the about 17th editions of barca-real and bayern-dortmund in the last 5 years or could see barca-dortmund and bayern-real, I would not have to think for more than 3 seconds top pick the 2nd option, even though the first games are great rivalries. Well if these teams face each other, one of them is going to be eliminated and the next match will not include 2 teams of the same country! As much as I like Clasicos, I would prefer to see a final between Barcelona and Bayern than a final between Barca and Real, and with the current system, it's more (not totally of course thanks to regular QF and SF) likely that Real and Barca will avoid each other until the final. Pure random draw would start from the group stage. For the Round of 16, number 1 of each group would face number 2 of any group. Of course Group stage need to have some meaning... If the teams don't care about being 1st or 2nd, that makes no sense. | ||

Bayern will likely destroy Arsenal and no doubt that Real - United will get most of the media attention, first time Ronaldo is playing against his old team, then the added dissatisfaction that he has in Madrid atm, plus Mourinho and his own drama But... Even moreso because the last time these 2 teams met years ago gave us 2 of the best CL games of all time, the Old Trafford game when Ronaldo (the real, Brazilian one) was cheered by even United fans. | ||

Europa League Draw! Draw Time 13:00 GMT (+00:00) For Both the Round of 32 & 16! The way the draw works for the Europa League is slightly different to the way it is worked for the Champions League. With it being a group stage format and having teams come down from the Champions League it has interesting seeding options which are as follows; Seeded Teams Liverpool(ENG) Plzeň(CZE) Fenerbahçe(TUR) Bordeaux(FRA) Steaua(ROU) Dnipro(UKR) Genk(BEL) Rubin(RUS) Lyon(FRA) Lazio(ITA) Metalist(UKR) Hannover(GER) Chelsea(ENG) CFR Cluj(ROU) Olympiacos(GRE) Benfica(POR) Unseeded Teams Anji(RUS) Atlético(ESP) Mönchengladbach(GER) Newcastle(ENG) Stuttgart(GER) Napoli(ITA) Basel(SUI) Internazionale(ITA) Sparta Praha(CZE) Tottenham(ENG) Leverkusen(GER) Levante(ESP) Zenit(RUS) BATE(BLR) Dynamo Kyiv(UKR) Ajax(NED) So that is how the teams are seeded and the way the draw works is that, any Seeded team can draw an Unseeded team aslong as they are not from the same country nor where they in the same group stage. Talking Point - both Liverpool and Chelsea could draw Atletico Madrid in the next round. | ||

Seeded teams are the winners of the group and the best 4 number 3's from CL group play. Non-seeded teams are 2nd place finishers of the group and the worst 4 number 3's from CL group play. | ||

However i do see it is not done that way and it is done by points determine your position as seeded/unseeded when you drop down from the champs league, and EUROPA is all done based on group position. | ||
