Was an entertaining game. But imho both teams should not overvalue this match. The majority of our players of today won't make the brazil squad, I think at some point the commentator said there were at least 17 players missing (from Munich, Dortmund, Madrid, Stuttgart...?) that would surely make it into the squad under normal circumstances. It was a lot of developing players getting chances, so I can live with the offensive potential we showed, Defense not so much of course On June 03 2013 05:15 eaT_Mi_Lquid wrote: On June 03 2013 04:38 roym899 wrote: On June 03 2013 04:01 eaT_Mi_Lquid wrote: LOL USA vs Germany 2:0 xD Germany is getting owned Hahahahaha !! Stupid friendlies ! Good Job DFB - your are embarassing ... You are even more embarassing.... LOLOLOL !! 4 : 1 ... don't tell me DFB deserves praise for such a stupid trip to the USA ?? and Ter Stegen ... lol whenever he gets the chance to play, he gets 2~4 goals in the net ! Totally overrated this guy ... may be the Barca rumor got into his head.... We should take Neuer, Weidenfeller and Adler to the World Cup, not these overrated goal keepers who get 2~4 goals every game ... (Ter Stegen and Zieler) Yes I'm telling you this trip worked out perfectly well, as many new players were tested and nobody from the big teams is complaining about it. If you feel this is "embarassing", then you have not really understood the purpose of friendly test matches. Do you even realize nearly every big club is doing such tours at least once a season and no one cares about the results? This is just blabla !! What's the purpose of testing a WHOLE new team, which is going to be abandoned anyway !! Wouldn't it be more useful to test a few new players one at a time ?? Can you get any valuable/dependable information when you throw over everything everytime you test ??? NO !! Also, this is the end of a season, so everyone was tired, add that to the mix of mid-table players which have never been played together, the result is a poor team where no-one cares to play !! What have you seen ? L.Bender / S.Bender / Schürrle even didn't cared ... Draxler motivated but couldn't find anyone to play with ... Podolski / Mertesacker terrible ... If you put a player into a not working team, do you do him a favor to let him showcase his skills ??? no ! You show that they are all terrible .... First of all: Your punctuation makes it borderline impossible to consider your posts as somewhat serious. You'd do yourself a favor if you tried a little harder to follow extremely basic rules. Second, I don't think you or anyone else here is in the position to judge what the coaching staff is able to extract from those games and the time the team spent together. Just for what we as the watchers in front of the TVs could see: I think that for instance Max Kruse played very well in both games and might be considered as a good future candidate for an attacking position (.. although Löw not inviting Kießling yet again is the dumbest thing since long), and I found Schürrle to be pretty much the best german player in the first half of the USA game (in contrast to Podolski, who failed to show up). Every bit of national team experience helps the younger players, and I don't think there are that many other favorable dates where one could set-up a few friendlies without messing badly with the clubs, yet friendlies are necessary to get new players in touch with the team or get guys like Lars Bender to play at their backup positions (RB). If you have a problem with friendlies in general, so be it (I guess so, since you dismissed the previous post as "blabla"..). I don't want to argue about yesterdays topics but there's only one thing: there are friendlies and there are unnecessary friendlies ... the whole trip was an entire $$$-Marketing trip for the DFB. Who the hell would organize the DFB Pokalfinale on the 1st June and in parallel to that a trip to the USA ? ... mindblowing time-mismanagement ... As far as I know, the date was chosen that early (in contrast to, say, next week) in order to allow the players to have a longer holiday/regeneration phase before the world cup next year. But yeah, let's leave it at that, I personally saw no harm in the games. Concerning Gomez: I also think that a lot of the hate he's getting is unjustified. His goal ratio is absurdly good and he's way better technically than most people make him. Looking back at his time at Stuttgart, he is very well capable of linking up with other players and providing nice passes (he used to play in a counter-attacking team together with Cacau up front). Since van Gaal dogmatized Bayern to 4-2-3-1, he "improved" (or lets say, changed) his physis a lot, so he could stand alone against two defenders. He was by far not as "bulky" as he is now when he was in Stuttgart, and I think it hurts him now that people expect a more agile striker up front. I agree that he has times in certain games where he seems disconnected or even lethargic, which is one of the main differences to Mandzukic I guess. Still, in terms of raw skill and ability, I would not rate him behind Mandzukic. He should go to the Premier League and prove himself there imho (either as the lone mean guy up front or in a counter-attacking role). Gomez is one of the best strikers in europe. Under the right conditions. He could score 30 goals in every league with no problem. The thing with him is that the team has to work for him and the tactic and gameplan has to be related to him. He just don´t fits the current way top level teams play. An example: the two players with the most fouls in this CL season are Lewandowski and Mandzukic. At the highest level there are 3 types of middle strikers: The "first defenders" like Lewandowski and Madzukic who are skilled enough to make goals by themself but their main objective are leading the pressure against the ball and creating holes for the others. The "wrong 9" like Messi or Miroslav Klose (obviously not on the same level but the german team played it like that in the past). or the "wall player" to drop off passes and long balls. Drogba brought that to perfection. Gomez is just not the kind of player the very top teams want right now.

Kind of sad for thiago. he got the #4 to represent guardiola for a brief stint, then got it taken away from him by fabregas and will now probably have his number 11 taken away by neymar. maybe he will leave? his release clause is only 18 mil. If i were a top club that sounds like an amazing deal to me

![]() For 5-6 years I have not given a single shit about managers coming or going (except Rafa, fuck that guy)... sigh, one hour to go till the interview. EDIT: Whatever any manager won during their time with us it has always been the house that Mourinho built

He made us the threat we are now, the way we can win games now is mainly due to him. He installed all the players we had with this "swag" of they are the best, they will win games and you will be successful. The trophies were proof of this, and still even after he went the players had this attitude. You could argue as well Mourinho's way with the players were the reason other managers have failed, AVB Grant Scolari etc, but Ancelotti was the closet we had to a 2nd Mourinho, a guy who made getting the players on side priority number 1. With what Mourinho gave us in terms of Trophies and success, is the reason we love him so much. He put us on the global map!

Sure, without Abramovich's money, we wouldn't be anywhere. But it takes a good coach to make it a winning team. Look at Man Utd, or more importantly, look at the kind of mentality Ferguson has instilled in Man Utd. Let's face it, on paper, Man Utd's team is not as strong as Man City's. But he has taught them how to fight hard, and show character. That's what makes SAF a great manager.
