Wonder if David Villa will be any use in the premiership. Guillem Ballague says Villa will be leaving Barca in the summer, and wants to come to the premiership. With spurs raving over him and supposedly Arsenal also interested. But is he to old to try and adjust to the premiership? He is 31 and 32 in December (6months into his prem debut) that means he will have tops 2 season in him before he is 33. Which is probably going be to much for him then. Wish he would of left bit earlier, and i hope Chelsea dont get sucked into him xD

Apparantly Antonio Di Natale has scored over a hundred league goals in the last four seasons. :O More than anyone else since 2009 except Messi and Ronaldo. Very impressive, he's a guy who gets way too little credit.

All the more impressive considering his age and who he plays for. It's a remarkable feat. Oh, and I'm still a little miffed that he was so underused in the last Euros.

I think he is too old now to play 90 minutes in big games... He's a remarkable player, and very lethal when he plays as a 'joker' (do we say that in english? we do in french, and it's an english work, but you know... french...), joining the game around the 70th minute or something... Additionally, Prandelli is one of the few men able to make Balotelli behave like a professional player, so he counts on him more than on the old Di Natale

No, in France we use 'Joker' to describe a player that enters the field around the 70th minute to unlock the game for your team. Most of the time a winger or a 9. Not a guy good enough to be in the starting 11, but that can make the difference thanks to his speed/technical skills, against tired defenses.
It probably comes from the card games, where the Joker is the card you use in desperate situations or to win a game...

And yeah Di Natale was the only guy who managed to score against Spain in the last European Championship.

yea but supersub is more of an after the fact application, it would be the closest thing to what they are talking about though.

The way they use joker is a very defined role.

has the same meaning in norwegian. the joker is always a bit of an unpredictable player, and he basically always has: at least one really really strong (offensive) ability, e.g. great finishing or great dribbling but also at least one detrimental factor through say, being very weak defensively or being prone to commit reckless tackles. the joker is only played when in need of another goal or when ahead by more than 2 goals, but never when wanting to preserve a 1 goal lead or hold on to a tie.

Not sure we use anything like that in England. The only time subs like that come on are either called "super sub" cuz he has done it before and changed a game when he has came on or a "game changer". We English are very dry in sense of having words that are meant for specific things
