2. Diving isn't a problem of european football at all, but rather a few selected footballing cultures. Such as mexico. Plenty of mexicans in the MLS. 3. Adapting is up to FIFA. FIFA is the world governing body of football. Including the US of A 4. See point 3. | ||

For example I think introducing wage caps would be absolutely incredible for competition. Wage caps where say, something like 50 clubs across europe would have the ability to compete for the best players, rather than the 10ish you have now, would create a nicer distribution of top players, and more competition for league championships. The champions league has actually seen a wide distribution of winners over the last 20 years - but this is due to the nature of best of 2 game series in a game as highly volatile and luck based as football, not because so many teams have been at the same level. If the best team had won every season, I don't think we'd be looking at more than 6-7 different winners in the past 20 years either. But League play isn't like that, the difference in skill and squad depth always manifests itself over a 34+ game stretch, and thus the inequality of resources and player quality ensures that the top 4 leagues in europe essentially end up being won by 10-ish different teams, and where the other 60ish teams have no actual hope for that trophy. in fact I think it's downright depressing how the only possible way any club not currently in the top 4 in england (and that's being generous  ) or top 2 in spain can hope to win the league is to allow itself to become the playground of one or more billionaires who may or may not be in it for the long run and who may or may not be concerned about sustainability.basically it's kinda like, the game grows and sustains itself through the supporter culture, the enormous media exposure, the fact that it's a nearly ubiquitous conversational topic through all layers of society, along with the fact that it's a wonderful, wonderful sport to spectate. But there's also a whole lot of room for improvement regarding the direction of the sport, particularly regarding finances, but also regarding refereeing. It's laughable that the referee crowding is allowed to happen - if rugby players can keep their cool then so can football players. It's laughable that goal line technology isn't employed in top leagues. It's laughable that if a referee gives a yellow card for an offense which should have been a clear red, it's impossible to add a suspension period because the referee already acted upon the offense, where if the referee had failed to notice, a retroactive suspension couldve been added. Considering all the stupid bs though, I'd rather have it all than in-game commercial breaks. | ||
