I dunno, I think everyone has their own opinions of what should score a lot of points and what shouldn't, but as things go the Fitocracy system is fairly good. You get the most points for the exercises that use the most muscles, and the least points for the muscle-specific exercises. No doubt there are one or two exercises that need fine-tuning, but overall I think it's pretty good.

No, I mostly mean the way it calculates reps rather than different exercises The difference between a set of X and a set of 1 is negligible... I think an additional rep is like +1 or +2 pts... lol

It's for yourself. Points on fitocracy is just an added motivation, and you should use it as such. I log my exercises in spurs, and I can only go back one week maximum, so I'm missing tens of thousands of points lol

It's actually one of the best gyms I've been to. Lots people who are serious about lifting too, and the trainers actually know what they are talking about, at least the ones I've talked to.

Yeah I like training there. I see a lot of regulars there who are deadlifting 300+lbs. Thankfully, there's enough bros with fuckarounditis that I usually don't have to wait to do squats.

I think an additional rep is like +1 or +2 pts... lol I think it's to get people to do smaller sets of heavy weights rather than big sets with light weights. The idea being, if you can only do five reps, you clearly taxes your strength to the max giving big gains, but if you did twenty reps, the weight was too light. As far as I know, this is valid and its the reason we're doing 5x5 and not 1x25. On September 30 2011 03:03 Alejandrisha wrote: All the invites in the OP have run dry. I didn't log warm ups at first, but after I realized that my warm ups were worth more points than my work sets, I caved in. Points for sets are calculated by extrapolating your 1RM based on weight and number of reps, which is reasonable. For example, someone who can do 135x5 should be able to do 152x1 so the two are worth the same number of points. The problem is that points for increasing weight scale linearly so you can score way more by doing five singles of 135 instead of a set of five. If points scaled exponentially, however, newbies would get like 100 points per workout and experienced lifters would get 10,000. Alternatively, they could just assign points by total weight lifted (then 1x5x135 == 5x1x135), but that would simply favor doing tons of reps at light weight. Ultimately the entire site is on the honor system so worrying about cheating the numbers is kinda irrelevant.
