My thoughts exactly about the dehydration. Only just how long does one have to stay in a sauna to become so dehydraded? Being a sauna lover myself I find that part just confusing.

Yeah it's probably a bit early to blame steroids. He was apparently quite the recreational drug user too.

Could have snorted some dodgy Thai coke or something--who knows?

That was a really good talk. It's reinforced a lot of what I've been reading lately.

So on Monday I couldn't go to the gym due to work issues. Today I said to myself let's go to the gym, do some simple streching, some cardio and be up to the task tomorrow.

Ended up doing:
3x5 75kg squat
1x3 60kg power clean and jerk
1x3 70kg power clean and jerk
1x3 75kg power clean and jerk.

Today was officially awesome.

nice job funkie and haji

Looking for some interesting stuff on going paleo on a low budget. Found some links that could be helpful for some people.
http://blog.modernpaleo.com/2011/02/how-to-eat-paleo-on-budget.html
Interesting blog -----> http://paleoonabudget.com/

I had a question on the argument of how hunter gathers had a short life span. This is because they didn't have modern technology right? Would the same reasoning be for the Masai tribe in Africa too?
edit----ahh robb wolf goes through this too

Also, my dad just had his second triple bypass, and I want to clean up his diet. My parents dont believe in eating paleo diet. As long as he doesn't eat grains and sugars, it would be fine right? I doubt he will give up white rice and he wont eat that much meat since his doctors told him not to.

haha I'm right where robb wolf is talking about cardiovascular disease in his Q&A.

I had been eating 1600 or so cals and still doing cardio and weights for a dozen days but i cant keep up with it anymore. So ive been eating something like 1800-1900 a day now.
My BMR seems to be about 2.1 but i dont know how to count my daily activities

I do approx 45 mins cardio plus a 15 end of gymtime cardio

And i do 4-5 weight exercises 3 sets each, 10/9/failureor8

Assuming i do little else, a bit of walking my dog, groceries etc, how many calories is my body actualy using per day? I ask cause i want to shoot for approx a 500-750 deficient

In terms of calories burned while doing cardio it'd help knowing how much you weigh and how far you go in 45 minutes. Just break it down into physics, you're carrying weight Y distance X, which translates into immediate energy burned. However as a completely rough estimate, I'd say you're probably burning an additional 600-700 calories on top of your body's daily necessity.

wow just spent an hour reading the SS pdf on the op. pretty damn technical stuff lol
whats the difference between the dips and the bench press? and is it ok to do both in the same workout?
and is it ok if you are doing chair and your hands dont have the normal grip/ handle like on the dip station? like the handle is somwhat flat but your fingers run down tthe chair . lol so its like dipping on two vertically placed thin wooden boards. will post pics later if needed
and do weighted planks put any strains or bad pressure on the spine or lower back?

are you doing SS? if so, stick to the program! if not I guess you can do bp and dips on the same day. they are both pretty tough compound exercises, so maybe dont do them right after each other (then again, I have no idea how to structure workout programs thats why I always copy programs from people who know their shit!)
and I think the positioning of your hands doesnt really matter as long as the movement is done correctly
planks are awesome and if done correctly wont hurt your spine nor your back.

@glurio: this has been bugging me for a while: your signature is wrong :p its supposed to be "whether you think you can or you think you can't, youre right."

A plank exercise isn't about adding extra weight really, because it's primarily an exercise for the deep postural muscles - these are predominantly 'red' type muscle fibres designed for endurance. Basically you are training the muscles that need to be on all day long to protect your spine. So I would say that time spent on the exercise is more important than adding extra weight.

Endurance is more beneficial than gross strength in this case

But when you can hold the plank for about 3 minutes easily it makes sense to add some weight right?

You could always add more difficult planks to your regiment. There are many forms of planking and of holding. Maybe you should work your way to flagpole-ing lol.

arent weighted planks already a more difficult version of the plank?

Well you can use 1 arm, 1 leg and 1 arm/1 leg as progression as well for planks.
