Understanding syntax of various programming languages are one thing, but applying different techniques based on language semantics like OO or dynamic scripting is another. What's important for startups are not just the ability to write code that simply does something but can also be extended and modified to keep the software growing and maturing. Bad code = gg. Better off just not writing it. This type of skill takes not only some smarts but also at least several years of experience to get attuned to the various best practices and software life cycle processes. For an intern to do this would require some really special talent or a student who got his head start back in high school or earlier, and even then the intern would have to pick things up fairly quickly. Small companies main advantage is speed and innovation. Sounds like am awesome opportunity though. Wish I weren't stuck in so cal... | ||
