Quebec Sweepstakes Law Encourages Sweepstakes Void in Quebec The reason why residents of Quebec are not eligible to enter many Canada sweepstakes is not because the sponsors don't want to advertise in Quebec, and it's nothing personal against any of the residents of that fine province. Rather, many sweepstakes are void in Quebec because the sponsors must follow a stringent set of rules set out by the Quebec government.
For example, in order for sponsor to skip the "void in Quebec" restriction, Quebec sweepstakes law requires that the sponsors must do some or all of the following things:
Register the sweepstakes rules and all advertisements used to promote the contest with the Quebec government at least 30 days ahead of the sweepstake's launch. Pay a fee of up to 10% of the sweepstake's value, depending on who is allowed to enter. Agree to allow the government of Quebec to mediate any lawsuits arising from the contest. Follow strict guidelines about the contents of the sweepstakes rules. Allow the Quebec government to determine if the sweepstake may be changed or canceled once it has started. File a written report after the contest has concluded, attesting that the prizes have been delivered or attempted to be delivered. Agree to follow a number of other rules and guidelines. See the Quebec Sweepstakes Laws.
While these laws are intended to protect the citizens of Quebec, they are also a significant burden of money and resources to sweepstakes sponsors, and the consequences for a mistake are severe. Rather than run the risk of facing legal action if these long and complicated rules are not followed to the letter, many sponsors take the easy route of making their contests void in Quebec.

I'll be competing

Awesome, I just signed up. I am looking forward to competiting!

*Note: Players must insert their BattleNET ID and Character Code into Game IDs on the account control panel to be marked @ready
|
Guys, be sure to register this weekend. Registration closes August 1st. Also, if you registered and you show as Not Ready on the Competitors page that is because you haven't entered your Battlenet Name and Code on your account. You absolutely HAVE to do this or you will not be able to participate in the event.

No, max spots is 512, it is not full. If you are having issues let me know or contact Support via the Alienware Arena page.

What is the reason people under the age of 18 cant sign up?

Groups have been assigned and the brackets have been filled out.
You can check groups here.
Some of you did not give a team name. In this case we gave one for you. You will know who you are, if you want it changed please contact support.
Brackets can be found here.
Bnet Names and Codes are not listed on the bracket. If you login to the site you will be able to see your opponents Name and Code.
Edit: If your scheduled vs no one that means you have a Bye aka Walk-over. Check the bracket to confirm if you have a BYE for the first round or not.
|
hah maybe this time i wont miss my match thanks for the schedule thing on the site alienware <3 you guys I just wish youd give me a new computer=_=
|
It kinda took alienware long enough to get in on the SCII action. It's season3 already, come on. The matches themselves look like they might be worth watching.
Off topic: Alienware is amazing, even though they charge you 2.5K+ for a nice rig. Ultra graphics are drool-inducing

This is the most unorgainzed/unprofessional tournament I've ever signed up for.
|
hey I just want to say that this is the worst run tournament ever. I signed up like 3 months ago, GJ on that I had completely forgotten about it before yesterday, as had everyone else in the world. I was busy playing in a Clan War at 7pm PST last night when my match was supposed to start, the admin msg'd me at 7:15 saying " are you playing your alienware match?" which I said " no I'm playing in a CW hang on" and then I went to their website and checked in / found out my opponents ID and stuff and came back onto SC2 and tried to msg my opponent. I asked the admin what was going on and he goes "oh your opponent took a W.O vs you sorry, you can ask him to play if you want" ........... LOL I guess you guys don't want any good players in your tournament, only little diamond league players that sit there on the website checked in, don't even take the time to message their opponents on B.net ( because I was online the whole time ) and just take a freewin 1 second after the "15 minute grace period" or whatever. Thanks guys... good tournament. I had a lot of fun.

What you mean to say is "My opponent was within his right to take a walkover and unwilling to reschedule the match."
Also, unless you've invented a time machine it was physically impossible for you to sign up 3 months ago. This event wasn't even announced until July 19th. Which means you completely forgot about this in less than 1 month. The format and schedule was very clearly displayed on the website.
We absolutely want high level players in this tournament however we can't make special exceptions or cater to certain individuals. There are hundreds of other players that had no problem playing their matches.
Had you not forgotten and contacted us prior to the match we could have worked with you and your opponent to reschedule your match.
It really bothers me when high level players make rude comments and completely inaccurate statements trying to make an event or organizer look bad. This is just really pathetic.

Definition of "unorgainzed" or unorganized.
Lacking order, unity, or a system; disorganized.
All the tournaments that we provide support for have a predetermined format and schedule. All matches are scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. There are default scheduled days and times to play your matches or you also may play them earlier.
Rules are clearly stated, you can file disputes, update match scores, and upload replays all through our tournament websites.
I would have to disagree with the "welcome to CEVO tournaments" which is implying that we are in somehow unorganized. In fact I feel the problem is, we are so organized that you people can't handle it because you are used to hodge podge tiny 1 day 32 man tournaments.
If you don't have a legitimate question or something pertaining to the tournament just don't even post.
|
Wow some people just can't admit they didn't prepare properly. Good luck with your tournament. lol
|
So if I don't have an opponents does that mean they aren't finished yet or that there is no one?

How about just writing the Bnet names directly so we don't have to click every single player just to see who's actually competing. In case you didn't know, viewers have no clue what 90%+ of the "pros" real life names are, and they don't care about it either. Just display the Bnet names directly (while keeping codes login dependant) and it'll be a lot more viewer friendly.

Oh you mean you signed up for the event without reading about the format that's clearly been in the rules since registration opened? You didn't read your email which contained the date/time and a link to the match when we scheduled it 2+ days ago? You didn't contact support to try and get help which is clearly listed on the tournament page under support?
There is not much we can do if you won't spend the 5 minutes to read the rules or this first post of this thread before signing up. If you ignore your emails, and would rather randomly post in the thread instead of actually trying to get help please don't sign up for the event. Instead if you have some actual constructive criticism I would love to discuss it.

I am in RO32 right now and I have had no problems at all. In fact, this has been the smoothest multi-day online tournament I've ever played in. I guess some people are just sore losers ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Really? If you lose once, you are out.. Then how do you determine 3rd and 4th place? Do you just go down by the same process until the final 4 players with 0 losses are determined?
Just questioning because I have never seen this format in a major tournament before
Select has one forfeit win, which means he's out of the tourney, and I assume many pro and better players don't sit around all day and has conflict with other major tourney as well. (for example, geforce tournament tmrw)

There will be a 3rd/4th place match once it reaches that point.

When it comes down to it, these are professional players. They are payed to play the game. So when professional players post on here saying they didn't know they had a match it is just 100% unacceptable. You need to learn how to be better organized and create a schedule.
You are paid to play the game yet you don't read rules for events you register for, don't read the format, don't read your e-mails. Just absolutely unacceptable guys.
Take 10 minutes and create a schedule with all your predetermined match times coming up. It just blows my mind. I work a full time job, am very active with friends on the weekends yet I never miss a thing due to 1 thing... its called a smart phone, get one.
|
Well everyone makes mistakes, and this being Alienware/Cevos first tournament its ok. It's just hurting their reputation more by them claiming it's a success. As long as they learn from this tournament in the next one everything should be fine.
|
I really only care about watching certain players. I'm your standard SC2 spectator that is more interested in the high intensity, big-name matches. Unfortunately, I don't want to click the link to each group/bracket just to find where Select/Idra/etc. are playing. Please provide an easier way to find players in the brackets. Thanks!

This is about the only complaint I had with this tourney. I basically had to take 5 mins to drift through each bracket to find a friend, meanwhile I have no clue who anyone else is because in any other league they have name/handle. A search function and name/handle format would have been nice if u kept the brackets seperate.
Seems to be a lot of walkovers sadly, My buddy had no problem reading the schedule and setting up his matches. Some ppl just seem lazy to check their email.
GL to everyone still in the tourney!!

Can anyone post the final standings for this event. Thanks
