I also find the lack of self awareness striking. I'm making a life decision to take a stance that I don't respect the act of getting a neck tattoos. Yet, as you tell me, "it is not okay for you to not respect other peoples life choices." That's the definition of doublethink to me. Sure, you're allowed to take whatever stance or moral high ground you want, but that doesn't mean people aren't going to call you out for being a dick about it. Getting a tattoo isn't an act that makes you a dick. Judging people and looking down on them for getting a tattoo is.

If I didn't make that clear, I apologize. I do think that respect is essential. When I see someone being disrespectful, I notice that it tends to manifest in a belittling of a person's choices, which to me is tantamount to belittling that person themselves. I'm attempting to respect your dislike of tattoos, but present an alternate thought process that's not as disrespectful toward those who have them. By talking about "their bad decisions" and "bad life choices," you're implying you understand entirely what their life is like and what events led them to what they've done with it. You don't. It's not possible. So instead you're projecting your personal feelings onto them, which leads to you disrespecting and insulting them. I think this is a bad thing. It's the difference between "I hate tattoos" and "I think people who have tattoos are stupid," and that's an important distinction to make. I don't think anyone on this forum would have a problem with the former. The issue I see with this is the idea that addiction is a life choice. It's not. It's an illness. Thus it's doesn't logically follow that Ketara is supporting harmful drug consumption or murder. Like I've asked before, can you come up with a counter position to why getting a neck tattoo doesn't close doors in your life? I've known several people with neck tattoos and none of them are overly successful. Taking a meth pipe, putting meth in it, lighting it on fire, and then inhaling it is a choice, it's not an illness. We can get into this debate if you want. This is a topic I know quite a bit about. The reason people call addiction an illness is so rehabs can bill insurance companies for the illness. It's not something you catch in the air. It's not a genetic disease. And conversely illnesses aren't something you can treat by locking someone in a room.

We get it, Sonnington is rabidly anti-tattoo because "it's gross" and tattoos somehow signify you're sub-human or are suffering from some sort of mental defect. And now is on the slippery slope to drug addition and MURDER. Herpaderpaderp. He's being a douchenozzle about this. Enough, stop responding to him. + Show Spoiler + This message was paid for and authorized by the Lord Tolkien for LLL Moderator Campaign, Also. HS. Jesus Christ, that's alot of cards released in a day. I'm gonna need time to think about this.

Your opinions aren't held by the majority here and frankly, we don't give a fuck if you don't find things attractive/nice. You've already been told you opinions make you out to be an ass, so guess what, you are one, now, drop it.

As such, people use other proxy measures instead and one of these measures may be the evidence of body modification.[2] This doesn't mean that this is correct, nor useful, but it is something we can acknowledge does happen a non-zero amount of times in various places. @Sonnington: If you are concerned for the well-being of other TL'ers because you don't want anyone to make a decision they might regret because of the above, then your concern is noted. However, I also feel that the people who would have read your posts are also mature enough to make what is a very personal decision themselves. And if there is regret about it, well, that's also part of life. Banging the table about this issue is not going to raise awareness any more than it already has, is not going to change the minds of someone who has already put thought into it, and is not going to endear you others. As such, I recommend you drop this issue.[3] @Everyone else: This also applies to you all. I don't expect to see this argument come up again. If there are any further problems with thread derails into another argument over this topic, just report it and move on. Thank you.
