right, it's assumed that some people hold those views otherwise it would just be making fun of nothing, like making a reference to a movie that doesn't exist. The point is to hold those views out of a context and see how silly they are. People get so wrapped up in little argumentative worlds of left vs right, red vs blue, edward vs jacob that absurd things start to seem reasonable and the point of satire is to drag all that nonsense out and show how silly it all is.

I think what kept this from being amusing to me was that it came out of left field. Someone who has never (to my recollection) posted in LLL, suddenly comes in and makes a satirical post that few people in this thread would understand (namely, the actions of the fans in the kpop community and how they try to make every release into something more than just a pop song) and then defends it with paragraphs of babble. That doesn't reek of satire, since the thing they're satirizing wasn't being discussed and is, in fact, pretty much an unknown to most people in here. It just seemed to me to be another internet person being dumb.
If he came in and made a satirical post about how deep and esports Hearthstone is or a troll about Dota vs League, it would feel relevant, and relevance is pretty important to making satire/trolling work.

The part I'm responding to has been bolded. This is largely inadequate. One of the catch-22's of systemic oppression is that it'll kill you (/your people) slowly if you don't fight it, but fighting it will kill you faster. Posts on the forum, regardless of whether or not they generate any discussion, display values that are considered ok by TL community standards unless they are derided by other posters or punished administratively. People being offended isn't much of a problem, but comments that target certain groups in and only in conjuction with unequal power relations will in turn cause systemic imbalances that cause real harm to many people (irl, not on TL).
This isn't necessarily what's happening here. Most posts on TL don't go super far into territory of "you're not welcome here", but there's a lot of posts that objectify women or promote cisnormative discrimination of queer people, for example. This alone would be basically a matter of people being offended, which isn't much of a problem. However, having a mod say "please don't make posts of the form "please don't talk about topic X"" creates a problem of normativity.
Normativity, most often discussed in the forms of heteronormativity or cisnormativity, is basically the social power something holds by being the normal position - ie, the burden of proof is on the other side. Sometimes normativity can be ok, like when someone is saying WW support is good and we expect them to justify it (which people tried very hard to do). Sometimes normativity is very problematic, like when certain groups of people (genderqueer people, for example) are expected to justify their existence while others (binary people, for example) are not. The problem in this context is that Zess is asking us not to directly challenge normativity. On a broader social scale, this is a problem because it locks systemically oppressed groups into the "slow death" option. Here it's not nearly so grandiose a problem (as LLL doesn't have any real world systemic or institutional social power), but it does protect and systemically reinforce the potentially-problematic posts.
So it's not like an awful response or anything, just kind of inadequate. Especially in a post that also says LLL is supposed to be a "welcoming community".

One problem with both what Sonnington is (hypothetically) doing (as per your description), and what you're doing assuming that you're being satirical, is that you're being satirical but actually reinforcing the damage that the group you're satirizing is trying to do. For example, someone being absurdly racist to make a satricial joke is still being non-ironically-racist (in terms of the actual power relations employed and reinforced) unless the joke is used in a way that it highlights the absurdity of racism and in turn helps to combat racism.
To elaborate, Sonnington put a lot of time and effort into our previous discussion that in turn took up a lot of my time and effort, and then made a similarly dismissive comment towards me later on when I said something like "please no". If Sonnington was merely being satirical to make a point, then it should have ended upon receiving serious critique, as Sonnington should have agreed with my critique / I would have actually been agreeing with Sonnington's original point, in theory. This didn't happen and we quite clearly actually disagreed with each other. So it's not satire, or at least not successful satire. I mean, Sonnington doesn't seem to think it's satire either, just calling it jokes, which they are.
So, in a weird way to end this post, I have to say that I don't think the claims that "Sonnington's comments are so obviously stupid that they have to be satire or he's an idiot" are true. And, to re-iterate my previous comments from an old discussion, I don't think Sonnington is an idiot or anything of the sort... just someone who really, really likes k-pop and wants to talk about it.
