It's a bit of both. Going high ground can be really scary depending on lineups. In this case Empire has pretty amazing high ground defence in terms of Mag's ulti and Linas AoE/Burst damage. So instead of rushing it they content to just get the items they need to breach it safely.
You can think of it in terms of a team waiting for 5th Dragon to go high ground in league. It's just in Dota there are a lot more items that change how things work and different power spikes to work with.

Re: League's death timers. Carries (high-leveled) at 25 minutes alreayd have 50+ seconds death timers in DotA, it's not the issue. Towers take ages longer to kill, and the map is alot bigger (especially for creeps who don't run that fast) so that's why it's harder to abuse an ace.

It's actually not just that. It's lack of buybacks,glyphs,map being small,death timers, teleport scrolls and no backdoor protection. You add that all up and you get the dumb kind of end game stuff league has. I mean then you get other issues like items being stat boosters mainly without much uniqueness so you don't get force/glimmer prolonging fights or saving people etc.
That's why I never got the whole nerf assassins. League late game is dumb, you don't want the game getting to that point. Should just focus on the cool as shit early fighting stuff.

The main thing is LGD's teamcomp is really bad at sieging here. One of their carries is melee and the other has 365 attack range. Against Magnus, the only way they can go high is someone on Empire feeding or just being ahead enough that they can dive.

Yea in this specific game it is pretty easy to tell why even as someone who doesn't play dota/2 I was just wondering in general cuz I don't really watch unless it is TI.

Old guy is like that but what he's saying isn't wrong. Sylar is one of the best carries in dota and has been for so long now. Every player on the team is just amazing players with tons of history. That's not even getting into the history of LGD itself.

So... my knowledge of most carries' scaling is very bad. Isn't AM supposed to be comparatively weak when on similar farm/items compared to other heroes, and because of that one of the weakest "manfighting" heroes lategame? Is Storm just weaker?

See numy's post, but also AM's ultimate does scaling damage based off total missing mana of a single target (the ratio is 1.1 at level 3) in an AoE. Against a Storm Spirit [and Lina and Dazzle], who has both a gigantic mana pool and burns mana rapidly, plus AM's own mana burning, you're looking at a potential 1-2k near instant AoE magic damage nuke if AM can get an ulti off on them. And, given Empire's teamfight included a Magnus and Disruptor, they get a gigantic wombo combo, and can bring everyone into a nice enclosed space, or just pick off the Storm Spirit.
Even without it, you can basically ulti a no mana SS and basically kill him from full later on, unless he has a Linkens or Lotus orb [which in that game, he wouldn't have room to buy]).

it's really not about sarcasm not working on the internet, you can be sarcastic without giving it away in normal conversations too, it's called wit. It's not like I know sonnington any better than you do. It shouldn't take much to spot he's not being serious. You should be able to see that he's posting extremely stupid things that very closely resemble the kind of sensational things the media might write about but posed in a way that make them seem even more ridiculous. How is it in any way similar? PX Detailed his reasoning for WW support for many many posts. Sonnington goes and starts using some made up phrases about how "hot" this song is the sort of phrases that were probably just invented by teenage girls.
