I don't like this randomness. I assume it's any spell in the game? Really dislike that kind of effect. We have already seen how shit the randomness in Unstable portal is.

In this case it isn't even randomness that's always positive value to you. It's just randomness for the sake of randomness.
I get how a card like Mad Bomber that's technically "even" can be played in a way where it's more likely to be positive value to yourself, but I fail to see how the same can be applied to a card that gives both players a random spell. Especially with no hand manipulation cards in the game.

I figured it out! You use it in Mill Mage, and then play it once their hand is too full.
Flawless victory.

Yeah this is also really astounding. He has a line about a platinum watch which is stupid because: 1) Drake is worth literally 25 times as much (75mil to 3 mil) 2) Drake's line back in 2013 - "Fuck going platinum I looked at my wrist and it's already platinum 3) None of Meek Mill's records have gone platinum, in fact his Dreams and Nightmares from 2012 just RECENTLY went gold LOL
It's too bad. I like Meek Mill too, but he is just losing all over the place. It's not even a contest.
This is HUGE for Drake though. As if he needed the help to be more popular, but his OVO Fest (6th one, I wish I could go ) is this weekend. Anybody near Toronto should look into it. It's not only rap, there should be some other musical guests and things to do I think, but I don't know too much about it.

Mad Bomber is "controlled" random where you can at least try set up a scenario that has a more likely positive effect. Cards like unstable portal and this creature you just sucking your thumb and praying. I guess blizzard really do care about the "highlight reels" more than anything else. There's going to be youtube vids of opponent getting some crazy spell that wins the game and that's what they want.

Nearly every card game has dice rolls though right?

Well, I think they've made it pretty clear that "competitive" is way down the importance list compared to fun.
Luckily most of these total random effects are limited to Mage and not necessarily in every Class. Well, and Shaman too, which is basically "RNG: the class"

You could run it with the troggs too...

I was actually thinking about Hearthstone tribes this morning. Even though there's not a lot of them yet, why aren't Troggs a tribe? For that matter, why isn't there an Ogre cribe? They already have a clear theme and a decent number of cards, even a legendary!

The highlight reel moment for this is obviously it giving you Unstable Portal, followed by Unstable Portal giving you another one of these again.

Randomness isn't the problem with Unstable Portal. The problem is that because it draws from the list of all minions it will give more value for 2 mana than a card of that cost has any business providing. Occasionally it draws a bad/cheap minion, but most of the time you get to play something well ahead of its intended curve.
By comparison a Ramp Druid spends 2-3 cards for similar effect, which requires them to draw that combo and makes the effect less damaging when you spend 2-3 cards to deal with the problem. Similarly Far Sight requires a Shaman to try and slant their deck toward higher value cards while also costing an additional mana.
That's not to say randomness is good, just that it's not the defining factor that makes Unstable Portal overpowered.

Numy's not talking about how randomness makes Unstable Portal overpowered, but rather how it makes it unfun to play with/against.
It could cost 7 mana and it would still be a dumb card--just a dumb card that never gets played, then.

I don't really see how it's fun to insta lose the game because Unstable portal pulled a random card that is impossible for you to deal with or is the perfect counter to what you did

For people like me it's never fun to lose.
Except when I am mindblowingly drunk and/or playing with friends.

But Blizz has made it clear that for their vision of Hearthstone, RNG = fun (for the most part). It'll probably come back to bite them in the butt.

I don't think the randomness makes it unfun to play with (except in silly brawls), and I'd argue it's primarily unfun to play against because it's too strong most of the time (and not all that weak when it fails to be stupidly OP).
You don't get nearly the same controversy over cards like Thoughtsteal or Nefarion because, despite being fairly random, they simply aren't as strong as Unstable Portal. If it was my job to fix Unstable Portal I'd do away with the mana cost reduction and call it a day.

lmao Meek's response was even weaker than i thought it was gonna be. People are gonna play Back to Back for years to come. I'm pretty sure everyone is already done listening to Meek's diss.

Thoughtsteal isn't a bad card, it's actually standard in Control Priest; + Show Spoiler +http://www.liquidhearth.com/staff/monk/PowerRank/June2015_2/Kolento_Priest.png
It's been a decent card since beta, it's just not more than decent. The point being that some complaints about randomness are really players venting frustration about overpowered cards that happen to have random elements, and it isn't necessarily even that the card is too strong (SEE: Piloted Shredder) but that the player has no control over the situation.
On the other hand some people fundamentally don't enjoy RNG and I don't mean to diminish that complaint, it's legitimate.

Well, there's no reason for them to be, yet. If in the future they introduce some kind of ogre synergy or anything that affects ogres specifically (Ex// a minion with an effect that makes ogres immune to confusion) then they can always patch it in because digital card game, which is great. I mean, there were dragons in the original set, but unlike murlocs and pirates (hidden legendary) there was no reason for the tag to be in the game other than to let us know there were plans for the future (which at this point they probably want to obscure more than promote).

Well the same thing could be said of cards from your opponent's deck, aside from the -2 cost (unless it's a "bad card" that no-one plays because it's niche is too narrow / irrelevant (ex// blood knight), which I actually think is the best scenario with this card). There's very rarely a case where the mage draws an other class minion that does something a neutral or mage-accessible minion wouldn't have been able to do similarly.
