The biggest flaw with shredder is that once you break the main body the second body loses vs pretty much any minion. The hunter MU is not about board in double combo druid. Its about setting up a face race and doing a shit ton of damage each turn while forcing the hunter to trade. This is how I won like 70% of all the games vs facehunter when I got legend with druid 4/5 seasons ago. I disagree that it forces you to play it on 6 as having the flexibility of using on 4 is what makes it good. 5/4 is better than 4/5 as it means it can trade with Loatheb. Belcher, Scar or Sylvanas which are all very common picks. | ||

While yes, the 2 cost body after a shredder breaks trades poorly against large cost minions, it still usually guarantees at LEAST a 2 for 1 trade against smaller bodies. And, MOST IMPORTANTLY, it's still a body on the board, which is what a combo druid cares about. That's why you run Shades: more savage roar minions for burst. Shredder is the same: strong, sticky minion that's resistant to removal, and will require a multiple minions/removals to fully clear. As a turn 4 or earlier play, Shredder is immensely frustrating to remove. Again, you're neglecting the fact that a 5/4 loses against a wide variety of removals, against all the weapons classes. and against Piloted Shredder (Piloted Shredder existing pretty much ensures that no one will play a 5/4 in constructed ever, unless the effect is incredible: this one isn't). While yes, a 5/4 CAN trade up in mana, it also has a frightening potential to trade down. That's the core issue behind a 5/4 vs a 4/5: a 4/5 is resistant to removal and will trade positively against smaller minions, and against most removals. A 4/3+3/2 or 2/3 is even more resistant to removal, and why shredder is both OP as fuck and will not be dethroned as a core druid card by a 5/4 in the combo-oriented deck. | ||
