I've done some audio transcription for research interviews and such. It's not fun, but it's much much worse when you have to use weird notation to take note of how they say things and such (like more complex versions of this), meaning that you basically can't go fast ever. It's also weird for me since my hearing isn't very good and captions / transcriptions are typically things I use as assistance, rather than things I make.
I guess this is also a reasonable time to throw it out there that I can't really watch Iris because of the multiple voices / varying volumes / various mic qualities make it too difficult to figure out without captions. So... any chance I could snag of a summary of the apparently great thing that happened last week? I did try to listen but it became kind of too much effort to be fun >_>
edit: also nice req! Always been a big fan of tournament aspects aside from W/L. The comic shop I played Heroclix at as a kid used to do lots of theme tournaments and there were prizes and such for best theme/team aside from the placing itself, which were the only things I ever won (at the tournaments) and were significant to my enjoyment as a little nerdkid.

Ehhh it doesn't seem too bad from what I've seen today? They use all these handy little Microsoft Word autocorrect replacements for half of the notations too so for instance nodh turns into (nodding head) etc so you don't really ever have to pause to write all that stuff. Either way, it's in Central London so the money is great and I will do whatever for money :D
Only problem is they do all the transcription in a super secret locked down room and you can't have internet on your PC (can still use mobile) so my mafia career has ended most probably... :'( RIP best mafia player ever.

Painting is done on a scale. Min points for minimum effort - if you just put enough different paints on to make it "table legal", you get min points. Then points are added on for things like extra fantastic painting skills, custom pieces that have been modded/kitbashed for personal flair, or things that have surprising bases or details that make them stand out. I have a couple custom dudes and my painting is better than minimum effort, but it's nothing special overall. Good display pieces (boards and terrain used to make a scene) add too, that's what I want to work on soon. This is pretty well the same scoring that's used at most 40k events/tourneys.
Sportsmanship is pretty subjective. Basically at the end we ranked our 3 opponents from favorite to play with to least favorite. So people are supposed to take into account how nice/fun you were, how well you played (knowing rules, speed of play, etc) and how well you dealt with victory/defeat. So pretty subjective, but I think most people were good about it.

Most tourneys have other things to win. Best painted, best sportsman, etc. Painting is actually really tough to compete in, since some people are insanely talented. Check out these pics from ATC recently:

I love these sorts of things, people who take the time to mod an army to make it really unique but still identifiable are the best. I'd love to do that for either a Renegades and Heretics army or maybe Adeptus Mechanicus force.

I like it, although it's mostly worse than Screwjank Clunker, which is usually already only a 1-of in mech warrior decks. Mech warrior is the slowest mech deck, but typically uses a lot of hobgoblin/warsong stuff so Clockwork Knight wouldn't really fit into it. It sort-of fits into mech shaman in the same place as Fel Reaver or maybe even Fire Elemental, but isn't as good or dangerous as either one. Might enable new mech stuff now or in the future though which is neat, so overall I'm still really liking this card.
On July 29 2015 23:37 Lord Tolkien wrote: Basically, the 5/4 is for a... a super-aggro class...
The only possible deck you could see this card in is in a beast Druid deck, which is still lol.
It's a great aggro druid card, but aggro druid isn't a thing (unless you count token druid decks with lots of early drops, which would never use this card and defs not instead of a piloted shredder). With the pacing they've shown so far from inspire, it doesn't look like this would be the expansion to enable aggro druid, in any case.

So, yay more mech cancer? 6-6 for 5 + mech type. Pretty gud.

Oh damn that sucks. Asmo puts little preview summaries in the OP after every weeks.
+ Show Spoiler +Not sure how much you've been able to keep up or how much of the story you're aware of. Right now, we're in the Kinshoal Library, which is deep in the bowels of a wizard city and was designed to keep wizards out. In there reside Librarians, which we were warned to avoid at all costs. They have a large silence aura (detrimental to a party full of casters), and we've (read: Amak'thos/Wave has) witnessed their raw power, and barely lived to tell the tale.
Last night, we finally made it down the 3rd floor and after a series of rooms and bookshelves and the underbelly of the planetarium, we found the section we've been looking for - Artifice. One hallway led to a series of "maze" rooms that change color when we enter. If we try to enter a room we've been in within the maze, we all reset to the beginning. All of these rooms have magical items (one of which being the one we've been looking for - a book called The Shaper's Secrets), and if we reset, the items don't come with us.
After we figured out how the rooms worked, we started to hear things pursuing us, and quickly encounter some book zombie things. When going to encounter one, we all reset back to the beginning, revealing that there were actually 4 of them. Fortunately, we were in a pretty good choke point, and Amak'thos was able to CC/damage them all pretty well, with Roger being the only minor casualty.
