I brought out the fact that my parents/grandparents had no qualms about hitting me with a "switch" (long flexible tree branch), or leather belt when I really fucked up, and they all looked at me in horror, while I'm thinking to myself, I would probably discipline my kid the same exact way. Came to the conclusion all my white friends must of had extremely relaxed parents growing up. | ||

Like, studied to the point where it's not even really a debate. It's just not a good thing to do ever period. It's one of those things where like, child psychologists disagree on lots of stuff and lots of things depend a lot on other factors making concrete statements difficult, but not this. It's just far more involved and harder to teach good behaviour than it is to just smack someone. That's why people are so into the smacking. Easy to understand and do even if it doesn't work particularly that well. | ||
