Not only is it not the first (or even second) rape scene in the show, it is completely and entirely expectable and unsurprising.

The red wedding had me in shock mode for like two days, this I was just like oh yeah that makes sense.

i didn't know there is outrage about it, but it doesnt surprise me. innocent girls getting raped hurts peoples feelings meanwhile theon gets analed raped and tortured constantly and nobody gives a shit LOL
i mean the ep before fucking roose talked about raping someone under the hanged corpse of her husband..

I guess maybe its one of the first violent things in the show that the audience can maybe actually relate to, so it upsets them more than the worse stuff where they have no frame of reference.

But even then, it's by my count the third rape in the show that they've visualized graphically, and maybe the tenth that's been alluded to or talked about. And yet I'm seeing news posts all over the interwebs about how this is the most offensive thing yet on the show.

No, it was not shocking at all. I heard there was some uproar about it, but it was incredibly tame. I feel like the zooming in on Theon's face for 5 million minutes of the outro was unnecessary, but whatever.

At this point I don't care what happens in the show. It's deviated so far from the book already, it's basically its own story.

basically its difficult to be offended by something you can't understand. So theon getting his dick chopped off isn't as severe as sansa getting raped.

Not that that makes any sense, but being offended is often an emotional response that doesn't make sense when you look at it rationally.

I'm not trying to defend the outrage, I'm saying its weirdly placed and any outraged parties should have seen this shit coming.

So they basically changed it from Sansa's BF to Sansa herself and yet still had the scene where she gets raped front of theon and he's forced to beat her/rape her too?
