That feel when you remember a group you haven't listened to in a long time and then you want to buy all their stuff, but it's like 3 albums and then you remember another group and now you're looking at $60 worth of music. buying music in 21st century. wut. Being that poor. I'm sorry. I don't buy my kpop (aside from SNSD) because it's too much of a hassle, but with stuff I can just buy digitally I do. Shouldn't you be saving money for when your entire economy fails or you break a leg and have to go to the hospital and then have to pay a 200 000 dollar medical bill? Just take me out back and shoot me like the horses of old.
Live fast die young. Spend money on games and music, the hardcore life.

If we're talking about rediscovering bands, holy shit I just listened to The Killers again for the first time in awhile. Really good shit. I went to a concert of theirs once like 6 years ago

Want to pick up Save Rock and Roll, realized I didn't buy RED's last two albums, the new Panic! seems really cool (and I don't have their last album), this thread turned me on to Say Anything, Thousand Foot Krutch released a bunch of remixes, there's a new Skillet...

how can you like a band with lyrics as immortal as "are we human, or are we dancer" or the tepid piss that is when we were young. I mean I like radiohead and some of their lyrics are silly, especially in their worse songs (flan in the face!), but they're never anywhere near as shamelessly retarded as that.
It's interesting how much more sophisticated lyrics from before the era I usually listen to can be without falling into pretentiousness. Paint it black by the rolling stones or soul of a man by blind willie johnson come to mind. They sell complex phrasing and ideas without any self consciousness. I don't know what happened but I just don't see that anymore.

That may be the most hipster post I've ever read.

When You Were Young is not tepid piss by any means, at least imo. I think it's pretty interesting because it's slyly talking about emotional abuse, but accepting it because you're still holding onto that one dream you had.
Human is just an awesome beat in general, knocking the lyrics is whatever but it's not a bad song.
I find that most of their songs are honestly pretty layered. I'm not saying they're incredibly deep, but silly isn't something I would use.

The Killers are really good...you're just a crotchety old man.

Craton still lives on through some of you vicariously

I like RHCP lyrics so I'm not able to talk about what makes good lyrics or not.
Also kpop.

I'm not trying to tell anyone You Should Have My Opinion, but people are not gonna like the same stuff you like and for me, the killers are pretty painful on the basis of the songwriting... if that doesn't work for you, no big deal, not gonna fite anyone over it.

I like how fite is a thing now.

Is there a third option for Teemo?
There are equal numbers of old lyrics that are objectively terrible, but they occur on songs that are iconic so for some reason no one minds.
A lot of people say the same thing about hip hop, and how mid-late 80's releases are some of the purest, greatest tracks the genre has ever seen. However, it's hard to argue that a substantial development in rhyme patterns and lyricism only started happening after these years and produced amazing tracks. The point in this analogy being that it's easy to look back on the golden days, but then stuff comes from that building on it and making improvements, even if it lacks some in consistency.
I used to think it was cool to be all "discerning" about what music was worth liking and what wasn't, but age has taught me to look more at why particular tracks are successful than to dissect flaws and dismiss "bad music." This is coming from the perspective of someone who writes music and plays small gigs, though.

yah idk. my post is kinda retarded. I do think their lyrics are consistently really really stupid but there are plenty of other songs where I just gloss over that so I really have no idea why it bothers me with them particularly.
One trap I'm not really falling into is the "music was better back in the x days" thing though. Like, paint it black might be lyrically better than whatever stuff I like from the last few years, but it's just an outlier, not a trend.

While we're on the topic, The 1975 is a nice little band to fill your plebeian ears with noise.
