Edit: I'm not out of college yet so I still have the chance to study something else should I choose to. I don't really see myself doing that though, the pay is mad good.

The idea that anyone knows what they want to do when going into college is absurd. First job is pretty much for general work experience, IMO. It's rare that someone loves their first job so much that they stay longer than 1-2 years.

Kendrick's hook on love game is hilarious. LOL I was reading comments on r/hiphopheads that Love Game was weird. Can confirm.

Learning to cook is a double edged sword. You attract all the ladies, esp the ones who are godawful at cooking by some fluke of social context, but now the problem is you're stuck cooking. As one of my birthday gifts for 2011 my girlfriend said she'd cook for me. Still waiting on that zzzzzzz I'm still pretty far back but this made me laugh so hard.

In college, we get used to sporadically having classes here and there with breaks and stuff. We tried to build or schedule so we had max relaxing time. For work, it turns into a huge grind. I do really like that when I get home, I don't have to worry about homework or anything. And I honestly wouldn't go back to the college grind because fuck school. But there are definitely days where I just hate having to wake up in the morning and go to work for 8 hours. I just hope in a few years I can aim for a job that I really want to be in... also working under the man and the company really makes me want to start my own company or finding something just gives me more creative freedom.

Yeah, it is hard if you let your job wear you down because then everything feels like a grind for it. Where I'm at right now working for Frito-lay (aka Pepsi's food side) being a sales rep, I find that if I start to feel like the day is long and boring I just try and make jokes with my customers and talk to them longer. Can usually get a good convo out of them when I try. Then again my days are as long as I want them to be, anywhere from 5-14 hours depending on how fast i want to work

But that said, maybe I'd enjoy it more if I was at a company I gave a shit about. I mean, I know everyone wants to work for a gaming company, so it's kinda cliche, but if I was working for a company and I was coding games or doing bug troubleshooting for 40 hours a week I'm sure I'd be much happier than making shitty websites and what not. tl;dr Everyone who's having a quarter life crisis should buy a 40k starter kit with me.

I just hope to be a cube monkey for something that's relevant to my interests. Tbh, Farm Credit really ain't all that up my alley.

See, I don't know about that. Especially since every story I've heard about being a dev at a gaming company makes general work life sound way shittier than being one at any other reputable software dev company.

I think I would enjoy teaching math. I don't know why I feel that way, I hate people and children/teenagers as much or more than most.

You hear stories because that's pretty much true. Developing in the games industry requires serious dedication and passion, because the work itself will likely burn you out otherwise. Teaching takes an amount of patience I just don't have. It was pretty amazing watching my math prof walk through a student over something I thought was incredibly simple for 20 minutes without breaking his calm.

There's a reason why every CS major wants to work for a place like Google. Engineers want to work for a company that treat engineers with respect instead of a means to an end. Yes, I want to be pampered.

I hear horror stories from big corporate places like EA and the like, but that's not the sort of place I'd go to if given the choice. I think I could teach, but I dunno how long I could go without acting like, uh, me.

work and deadlines take the fun and intellectual intrigue out of most things. that's why a lot of people just take the path that has the most money since work is just work at the end of the day. of course some people get lucky and end up doing their dream job.
