Basically, Wotc made two core lore characters for this set transgendered and autistic to appeal to people. Like verbatim what was give on the lead designers tumblr earlier today. Which is fine, but this is like the highest form if pandering I've ever seen. Normally in story's these types if situations add to the character. Instead we have narset who was a khan leader all of a sudden due to time lines changing grow up as an autistic monk. Which has nothing to do with how her story changed her character other than the fact that she is now this way. I'm just grumpy that shit writing tropes are prevailing here, on top of the fact that tumblr is being thanked for ultimately ruining something. | ||

I learnt that Lulu can't harass Kalista at all because passive means free Q dodge, and her auto animation is slow enough that Kalista can auto a minion then jump backwards, thus cancelling the auto, if you try to harass without standing in her auto range before she attacks (eg. expose yourself to getting auto'd for free). Back to MS quints I guess. It's not only that they were really bad, though. I'm tired and I was frustrated whenever I played badly or the opponent got away by dumb luck or something similar (see aforementied lane) and it played a part, but I didn't feel on the same page. They kept doing meh to dumb stuff but I knew it would be useless to address it or just give advice as either they wouldn't pay attention, or they'd take it badly if they listened. Prob need to either decide to keep trying to get back to my old level (and avoid these games), or try and learn to be more "no fucks given" when stacking with these kinds of people. Dunno if I can do the second one because I get satisfaction from doing stuff right though. Maybe I should just give myself a limit as to how many games I play so I don't end up feeling like a wasted several hours once the session ends. I'll have to do something about my approach of the game if I want to be able to enjoy it again, though. | ||

It's funny, I read the uncharted realms and I vaguely remember thinking 'she sounds kinda autistic' as I read it. Here's the thing about 'pandering.' While I do recognize it's really stretching things specifically to appeal to a group of people, at the same time this is a group of people who is vastly under-represented in mainstream media and elsewhere. As as a rule, most of the people who do the creating by virtue of them being a majority don't think about things like what it's like to be transgender or autistic because they aren't exposed to it in daily life. Yes, to us it kind of cheapens the writing because we don't identify and we say: 'Well why do they have to specify something like that? Why couldn't they have just written about Alesha and people could have made up in their head what they wanted or drawn their own conclusions?' At the same time however, I'd like to imagine people feeling genuine joy at being able to identify with a strong lore character for once in their lives, and that is worth a little bit of pandering every so often, at the very least until thing like homosexuality, 'neuro-atypical,' and the like become something in our society that isn't given a second thought because it's simply another aspect of who we are as a species and a society. Edit: I literally got home 10 minutes ago, haven't eaten dinner, and feel like shit, and yet I felt the absolute need to sit down and write this post. There's something wrong with me. | ||

Its the little details that are making it stick out as really really bad to me. I should also say I have no qualms with autism and the movements people are making to help those affected. I just feel like this is very distastefully written in that sense. Plus narset is my edh general of choice right now. I'm just glad her walker form is really strong. | ||
