That's hard for me to sympathize with, but I guess I could see it. I mean, i understand it. my stream in sc2 was what kept me playing that game after blizzard made the infestor change to duration of fungal and my motivation got destroyed. then my streaming petered out as i was trying to revive my interest by helping people and got some money scammed from me and i quit.

I'm happy the style of play i spent a year developing ended up being the ancestor to stephano's style. so at least i could pretend i did something useful. i still get PMs and stuff from former viewers asking about me, its sad T_T.

Monte wasn't garbage at League or anything, but he wasn't a top tier player either, which is generally what the public will expect from content of that type. He was good enough to help a very very large % of the playerbase which I think is why he started doing it, but unfortunately clout plays a large part, and in this scenario clout comes in the form of Elo/League+Division standing. So what you're saying is, his show didn't work out because the second half of his name was -gomery and not Cristo?

Maybe you should make a letter on reddit. I think by now people are ready for the 180 flip. E-fame is just one simple post away.

Whatevs I'm gonna stream a draft while I have the chance. Don't really expect anyone to watch but at least I'll have it recorded to go over all the dumb mistakes I make.
And fuck now I don't have enough time to do one before I have to go pick up the guy...ugh I guess I'll risk one later tonight while he's sleeping not really a gimmick and most probably why What I have is a gimmick. So I'd still count that #2 player as having a gimmick, it's just a particularly good one? I don't think I've ever had a proper gimmick to hook people in. Blind DS run comes close I suppose?

The fact that I was Platinum rather than Diamond/Challenger hurt my credibility, which hurt both base interest and retention. That's not the only reason I failed to take off, but it's one of the contributing factors.
I've never felt that I deserved better than I got, since the majority of the factors were things under my control that I simply failed to do or didn't do well.

Well that Monte got his clout through being an OGN caster, whether that should or shouldn't count/work is irrelevant, it put him high in the eyes of the many(also I do think he's pretty damn good at his job FWIW, not perfect and not always correct but yea).

I think if Wave had a more concrete schedule he could've been a popular Let's Play-er. He has the voice and the stream personality to pull it off. I don't mean to add to your lamentations about streaming Wave but sometimes you're just a little too late to the game or 'born in the wrong time' if you will and that sucks but it happens.*
*This doesn't mean stop trying, maybe your break is still ahead of you.

Ginger hair and a smooth radio voice don't count as a good gimmick? Eh, people say that but I watch other super popular streamers with crazy good voice and wonder how anyone things I have a good one. (Also maybe Caleb corners the market on streaming 'gingers?' Certainyl doesn't hurt that he's ripped as fuck) I really should stop concerning myself with stream popularity so much when it's very clear I have a lot of hurdles preventing me from getting anywhere (and rightly so) but I just can't help myself.
And Monte I always thought you deserved more than what you got.

Wave i think you have a good streaming voice and are interesting, but you never seem comfortable talking to a camera. it makes things less engaging when you seem like you lack a personality because of the uncomfortable tone in your voice. thats why i crack jokes in your chat 24/7 because when you are reacting to my shenanigans or to chat you end up being wave and not robo-wave. and its entertaining.
