Pretty awesome . I'm actually looking around for a new exercise program but been so lazy to check. Find there's so much information out there that it's actually hard to find what is good or bad.

Building muscle is the main goal right now.

You've seen how many legacy chat rooms I'm still in. I think it's safe to say I don't delete anything from my account.

And @owb If motivation and consistency is an issue, I'd recommend keeping it simple. Stronglifts and Starting Strength, with their debatable flaws, do one thing great and that's simplicity. You work at and master 5 or so lifts. It's easy to track and remember in the gym. You're not carrying around some clipboard where you wrote out your percentages of max for 18 exercises. You get in and out and you'll see results, at least I did. If all you really care is hypertrophy (more muscle) I've seen a lot of people recommend PHAT (google with Layne Norton) but you're going to lose out on the simplicity. Starting Strength will get you muscle mass too as a beginner no problem with enough food.
If you're skinny and you can't seem to put on muscle you got to eat as much as you can each meal and just pound glasses of whole milk throughout the day. Eat ice cream too for ezpz cals.

Yea that's basically what I've been doing. Just simple weight exercises doing certain groups(chest/triceps,biceps/back,legs,shoulder etc.) per day. Thought I should maybe start looking for something a little more in depth now that I'm used to it. The weight gain is pretty hard for me, I just don't eat enough I think even while being conscious of it. Am starting to build muscle though that I've noticed which is cool.

From experience I'd say start with stronglifts 5x5, saw some sick progress from that when I was on it. Make sure you eat a tonne too and the utmost thing to remember is work on your form rather than lifiting heavy at first.
If you can't eat enough then drink loads of full fat milk too. You'll get a good strength base which i recommend before building crazy muscle.

Yea I started with Stronglifts 5x5 doing glorious things like bench pressing the bar
I find it's also easier to work out at a gym full of big dudes who take it seriously because you don't actually get any judgemental looks for being a scrub in their gym as long as it looks like you're taking it seriously too. Plus they actually have olympic plates so you can deadlift 65 without having to deal with adding height to your bar. The gyms filled with bro-types are less newb-friendly
In terms of university gyms, this tends to mean going to the older one where all the football and wrestling guys train at, instead of the fancy shiny one with billions of treadmills

Soniv, did you just dodge the lemon issue hoping I wouldn't pay attention?

So you're telling me that if Creator Viktor is not my favourite Viktor skin then I'm not a decent human being? That's a bold claim!
Furthermore, I think I disagree with your personal theory. This is because I think, at least in this case, sourness and saltiness are very similar if not the same. So unless Soniv thinks at a higher level than all of us (which is possible) I would think he may have similar thoughts to my own. And if that is the case, then that line of thinking doesn't hold up super well.

Not intentionally dodged. That might be my favorite post of yours ever.

Ok, if you're going 5 days a week and not seeing a change your most likely a) not increasing the resistance progressively or b) not eating enough. Addressing a), have you hit a plateau or anything or do you just find yourself checking off some exercises you do, get your heart rate up and leave? The advantage of simplicity is you know if your progressing or not by whether or not your lifting more than the previous week. If you've been benching 100-120lb depending on how you're feeling that day for the last 3 months you can't expect much change since you're not stimulating much change. With more advanced lifting schemes it's easy to get lost in the numbers and see if you've made any progress. Progress is addictive and you should use it. B) you got to eat more. Just do it. When I went from 160 to 175 I was trying to eat 4500+ calories a day and that's what it took. agree with holyflare and xes

Can't say I've ever gotten judgemental looks at the gym or seen anything like that. I guess it's just a difference of culture. Here most people are pretty friendly and helpful. Actually spoke to a guy today about form on my one exercise and he went on encouraging me to keep at it. There's a lot of ladies that use treadmills(lol..) but everyone in the weights area is really chilled.
That PHAT looks a bit too intense for me right now.

That PHAT looks a bit too intense for me right now. Just start with StrongLifts or Starting Strength (very similar in approach). Do that for three months and track your calories to keep it above a certain number and I think you'll be pleased at the end.

waitwaitwaitwaitwait there's a subtype of the health nut lifestyle where eating ice cream can be GOOD FOR YOU? I thought that cutting out sugar was one of the things every super healthy person did, I mean in college I had a friend on a sports team who would never eat the cookies I offered him.
