I've also spent more time thinking about how bad for the environment creating large amounts of meat is. I wonder if concern for animals is considered a euro quality? Maybe I should care more, but it's really difficult for me to get emotionally involved at this point.

getting emotionally involved won't help in the slightest, it will just make you less happy

well, getting emotionally involved would get me motivated to do something about it. Probably start an animal rights group in college and do fuckall to actually help animals.

Sounds pretty boring on second thought.

This right here is pretty fucking dumb. You don't have to have "strong beliefs" to hold a vegetarian diet, or any diet in general. It can literally all come down to a matter of preference. It's like saying that if somebody is religious then they have to be a zealot. Well then, time to not date anybody outside of our own religions or not date anybody religious if we're not part of one.

It's the difference between dating somebody that drinks and somebody that is an alcoholic. The issue isn't what they consume, it's how it affects other people.

you don't have to have strong beliefs to be a neo nazi but you could say it might not be a good idea for a black rights activist to date one
you're just taking everything to the extreme case when im talking about just a statistical thing
like you're more likely to break up with someone if you're a vegetarian and the other person is not or something

also if someone is a "vegetarian by preference" that's not the type of person who calls themself a vegetarian,

i dont really like icecream but i don't identify myself as someone who doesn't like icecream, i just dont fucking order it

Really? Nazism by itself is a radical idea, I don't see how that qualifies. Of every relationship I've been in since I stopped eating meat, 0 of them ended due to issues about eating meat. It's as impactful as my being left handed.

Whether or not somebody calls themselves a vegetarian doesn't matter. They are one by definition.

The reason you don't identify as an non-icecream eater is because you don't live in a culture that wants to put ice cream in every meal and upon meeting you, people don't assume you eat ice cream.

its less likely that vegetarians will get along with someone who isn't one because there are a lot of them with strong beliefs and trying to make a change in the world and not that they just dont like eating meat.

I think you are the one talking in absolutes talking about womens studies grads like its somehow related to vegetarians. Or even animal rights activists. My ex, Soniv's ex, Ghalo, and PX are not like that. I don't think I have ever been lectured for eating meat in my life. how many vegetarians do you actually meet that give you a hard time about eating meat or are you just extrapolating from internet memes to assume its all true?

I'm sorry you're from the united states I didn't explain myself properly.

I doesn't really matter about your specific cases, they aren't statistically representative, I don't have any proof either I'm just making a hypothesis. That is that a single person eating as a vegetarian wouldn't make any difference so if you're going to be a vegetarian if its not for preference sake there's a good chance you'd want other people to be the same.
It tends to be more difficult of people with strong beliefs to get along with someone of different beliefs. i.e there are far fewer mixed religion weddings than same religion weddings.

Your point was don't date one cause there is a good chance they will try and force their beliefs on you. I think you should probably make that call person by person.

In the wonderful world of the internet, tone is entirely up to reader. If you're going to be facetious up front and not couch it later with something like "but seriously though" later, people are going to assume it's part of your message. That's on your for communicating poorly.

To address the rest, you're saying examples given aren't "statistically relevant" yet you're coming to the table with a stance about a large group of people that you aren't part of without anything but a hypothesis. The fact that we have 4 examples, two secondary and two primary from a cross section of the vegetarian population, that comes from a sample size of the maybe 20-30 regular posters in this thread should be telling.

Being vegetarian doesn't necessitate holding such a strong opinion that it has to be one way. That's entirely up to the person. Just like it's up to an omnivore to choose to not date somebody because they're vegetarian. Both are fine, but those are conscious decisions that reflect on the character of the person, not the group they are judging.

I've also spent more time thinking about how bad for the environment creating large amounts of meat is. I wonder if concern for animals is considered a euro quality? Maybe I should care more, but it's really difficult for me to get emotionally involved at this point.

I won't, sure it will get a little colder but thats about it.

Livestock does create a massive input to produce, but if the world was to decide to just switch to vegetarianism, it wouldn't be very helpful to the environment either. They're both wasteful in their own ways due to varying demand.

It's 'k Mensol, kongoline is still worse than you. Don't try too hard to top him though.

And it appears I'm pretty good at launching innocuous remarks to brighten the atmosphere. Sorry about that, Monte, you looked genuinely happy to have her on stream.
Cant take LMS hipsters serious.

An interesting tangent; The grain used to feed the cows in the USA could feed 800 million people. This doesn't include everything else the cows eat. Last year the NY Times estimated that 11.3% or 800 million people are malnourished in the world. This means nothing because the world already produces about twice as much food as required to feed everyone its just that no one is paying to deliver it to the people that need it.
BW pros training sc2 is like kiss making a dub step album.

Shipping 800 million people's worth of food all over the world ain't going to be cheap either.
