another interesting irrelevant point; The US government heavily subsidizes the production of corn for corn syrup for soda then taxes the people more on their soda cause its unhealthy. They gave over 100x more money to corn peeps than all other vegetable and fruit peeps combined.

The subsidy was originally done to keep the farm economy from collapsing but its not necessary anymore. due to the demand for corn. soy has a similar subsidy as well. the more you know.

but PX soybeans got less than a quarter of the funding the corn did and its because they process it into unhealthy additives. Apparently 75% of the subsidies go to 4% of farmers and they are the ones selling to junk food companies.

Yeah i mean corporate farms are the vast majority of the farmland in the US. Soy gets a similar dollar amount per ton that corn does, but corn is far more prevalent.

Oh yeah, so interesting things happened recently. So my sister for whatever reason really wanted this Ancestry DNA kit for Christmas, something about mapping out our family tree blah blah whatever.

So I don't expect to be surprised. Both of our Grandfathers' families had immigrated to the USA within like a generation or two of them. And our maternal Grandmother claimed to be 100% German. We never knew what our paternal Grandma was, she was from the south and never talked about her heritage.

So we're expecting like ~50% Italian ~25% German and then hoping to see what other Euromutt we are, right? NOPE

43% British
28% Italian
6% Irish
6% Middle Eastern (????)

the rest random European stuff

The Fiancee and I decided that my family was originally Celtic but then went to Italy during the Roman Empire stuff and that's how we're mostly British but also have Italian heritage. That or my dad's father was lying.

This explains why I like tea so much.

I actually really like water but beer is my greatest weakness. That and milk. Us Dutchies are mighty fond of the dairy, and grow mighty tall because of it.

It's pretty much all I drink. Beer, water and milk.
