I'm not really convinced that a good response to someone harming others for their faith should be antagonizing everyone of that faith.

oh no, god forbid we offend moderates by comical pictures of Muhammad, we wouldn't want to insult reasonable law abiding citizens

I just mean rallying people to do something that a quarter of the population of the planet find offensive is probably not fixing any problems.

like you wouldn't like it if people were rallying to make the media more PC... oh.... sorry dude.

But the thing is, the terrorists attacked because they found these images offensive. So complying to their wishes only shows them that they have power over us. It's a really touchy balance, sure, but removing [what they deem to be] offensive content because some dumb fucks get butt hurt over it is only letting them win.

"Letting the terrorists win" is a pretty dumb concept imo. Risking further bloodshed and insulting an entire people just to spite a handful of extremists is a petty move on the whole.

I'm all for freedom of speech, but if not printing Muhammad's is more polite and decreases the chances of further terrorist actions, then that seems like the more logical action, no?

no

I'm not saying no one should be allowed to draw him. If people want to they can. I just think organizing an event to offend literally 23.4% is stupid.

If it was a Christian executing a group of people with beards because it offends him, we wouldn't say "no more beards", we'd say "get the fuck over it you retarded Christian". (intentional hyberbole)

I understand what you're saying, but I wholeheartedly disagree.

It doesn't decrease anything. What people don't understand is that there will always be extremists looking for an excuse to cause havoc. Removing what they use as that excuse now just means they will find something else. They crave something to be angry about, it validates their existence. Religion just happens to be an incredibly convenient tool for these psychopaths. The only real way I think you can stop it is by pushing education as much ad possible so these people find some other aspect of life to bury themselves in. Who knows if even that will work.

These people are sick. They require help but instead of getting it they latch on to things like religion and use it to fuel their problems.

I read yesterday that ISIS closed down an ass ton of schools in the middle east. They definitely know how to keep extremism going. =/

This is a very bad example. A better example would be if the bible said no one can grow a beard. then a retarted christian executed a group of people with beards. then everyone else in the world grew a beard.

That's... dude, what? There's a difference between growing a beard and printing a worldwide picture for all to see. I really hope you're trying to be facetious because that analogy made no sense whatsoever.

A better comparison would be if a Christian extremist group was killing people for burning crosses with Jesus on them. In which case I would say yeah, just stop burning Crucifixes.

But the thing is, the terrorists attacked because they found these images offensive. So complying to their wishes only shows them that they have power over us. you might argue that the cartoonists are hurting muslims but I'm not hurting nobody

Petitioning for something that ends with people getting hurt should trigger some sort of empathy. But you know, being an edgy euro teenager and all you like to remind us with every single fucking post that you don't understand empathy and hate everyone.
It's your boy Guzma!

If it was a Christian executing a group of people with beards because it offends him, we wouldn't say "no more beards", we'd say "get the fuck over it you retarded Christian". (intentional hyberbole)

I understand what you're saying, but I wholeheartedly disagree.

That's...

Yeah, it was a terrible analogy. I started with something else and switched it up and it got horribly jumbled.

I think the condemnation of senseless killing like this should always be greater than the act that caused it (especially if the act is something as harmless as a cartoon).

Right and that's stupid. It is known that Muslims generally find that offensive. so there is basically a day every year where we all circle jerk to offending a massive group of people. The current course of the convo started when i disagreed with Doctorbeat saying that we probably shouldn't "hope" for that.

the real tragedy is that scip didnt like my "like you wouldn't like it if people were rallying to make the media more PC... oh.... sorry dude." joke

Well, if some guy decides to shoot ppl cuz of Mohammed cartoons I don't think the lost lives are worth the fun you have for drawing/watching them. Unless you just don't give a shit about dead people.

People have a right to be offended. People have a right to post whatever random shit they want.

Neither party has the right to force either upon the other.

I get what you're saying - organizing a day to be intentionally offensive in one regard to any group is kinda dickish. But killing people over it is way more dickish and fuck those guys. Ideally, people would not intentionally be dicks to each other, but we don't live in an ideal world.
