I beat Tales of Xillia a few months ago (PS3). Highly highly recommend it. Haven't touched the Tales of Xillia 2 yet tho.

What platform? I mean there's Bravely Default (3DS) which is the most FF game SqEnix has made in ages, if you're getting Tales of Xillia you may as well indulge in all the other ones in the series like Tales of Vesperia (X360/PS3) or Tales of the Abyss (3DS/PS2). Valkyria Chronicles (PS3/PC) just got a PC port released on Steam. There's also Etrian Odyssey (DS/3DS). Depending on how you interpret your question, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (GBA/DS/3DS) also fits.

You should go through Atlus's catalogue. Have you played the SMT or Persona games?

Persona games never really interested me, they looked shit. I watched a stream and it looked like a visual novel of kids sitting in class, wtf pedobear alert.
I dont own a 3DS or really plan to soon, Bravely default will have to be missed for naow.

Golden Sun isn't exactly a love story RPG. 
Technically I shouldn't play Arena because I average a bit over 5 wins, enough to make it worth it overall, but not a net gold gain without the pack.
Considering that a pack gives me ~30 dust it doesn't make up for the 80 or so gold I "lose" (I need 50 gold to make it even, then whatever I get on top of that is the "price" of the pack unless I get more than 150 gold overall). On the other hand it's funnier and way less grindy.
