It involved making fun of Zuna's positioning and Idra maybe finally getting to win something. Totally serious in all obviousness.
As for the whole "forced" thing, isn't the whole "ESPORTS" shtick this to begin with?

TCGs always have heavy RNG. Once you get up to decent level of it very heavy on the RNG and metagaming. A lot of esports are metagaming but there is a bigger gap in say Doto and SC than there is in HS/MtG.

League didn't get forced. Its growth was helped with outside pressure, but the game had a competitive scene growing well before Riot took the reigns and dumped money into it and bought its way into LAN events. In fact, I'd argue Riot only did that because they saw the potential of the competitive scene that was growing, and probably wanted to have full control over it for the future(which they wouldn't have if it grew organically to start).
There was more stuff I wanted to reply to today but I forgot after making this post.

The reason why league grew, was because of the f2p-model. First of its kind for the genre and back when it was a new game, a lot of the popular games costed $$$$$
It's way easier to convince your mates to just create an account and download the game, than it is to tell them to go out and spend 40-80$ for a video game, before they can play with you.

I agree with this a lot. I know Riot were smart and jumped on the Esports train as soon as they saw that their game could have made it, but I'm pretty sure the scene would still be around even without Riot's support. I mean I won't deny that Riot does help a lot in the way they have, but I do kinda get tired of people pretending Riot's funding is the only reason it's around.

In my mind, Blizzard's biggest failing with competitive Hearthstone is their continued refusal to develop a competitive Limited format.

I don't know much about Hearthstone, but I'm pretty sure Sylvanas is the greatest failing I saw at Blizzcon, followed by Brawl.
