AOE that doesn't hurt it's allies? Okay, I can see that since it's a suicide unit. Gets a free detonation when it dies? Yeah, no.

Wow, this accurate analysis of the design of sc2 units is even better and more mature than your opinions about champion design in LoL.

That's cute, considering that I do both of them with about the same frequency.

I thought today had a noticeable lack of Scip, guess that's been remedied.

Can we all just admit in medias res does not function well during a rising action segment of a episodic series? its jarring and confusing, and can trick even a captive audience into thinking they skipped or missed something. which is almost certainly going to be unacceptable. the amount of immediate backtracking needed to explain the events is always going to cause problems where dialogue is either going to be so expository and dull or you are going to show the flashback anyway, so why does it need to be a flashback.

I thought I'd have a general idea of whats going on in Heroes but nah.

Watching G1 of TL vs C9. Already lol'ing at Zuna+his bro on C9, Bobby and Jintae too. Zuna is literally playing like he was when he was ADC with Vulcun/XDG. Looks/feels like TL is winning, then Jintae transforms went from a Faerie Dragon into a 10/10 Ancient of War with taunt, and just crushes Nexus (?).

And I hear Idra is playing for EG in Heroes? ROFL

edit: Wait no, Jintae was the Gryphon Master guy. How did he become an AoW? Tassadar/Tyreal seems cool. Anybody who plays/watches Heroes know how good/fun the Stormrage brothers are?

my analysis from watching the Heroes final:

It's essentially teamfighting for an objective that unlocks an team advantage (sorta think of it as baron buff, or destroyed inhibitor), that allows one team to try and capitalize with a power play, while another tries to nullify it and wait out til the objective respawns again.

all i know is, whatever hero turns into thor/odin, I'm playing that every fucking game. shit's so fucking cash.

heroes suffers from a worse version of the problem league has and is trying to fix by having knockups be more prevailent, where the spells feel like they are non impactful to a viewer that doesn't know better. almost all the spell effects in heroes are particle effects and firey/magicy bursts, it makes everything difficult to follow and feel samey to an uneducated viewer.

The bigger problem is that the heroes are all too fucking big and chunky, so when they get in range to attack each other, it just looks like cluster fuck of blobs trying to do shit.

Well the other thing is that teamfights seem to be much more common/constant than in other MOBAs, so it feels like being unable to read a teamfight hurts your understand of WTF is going on much more than in other games.

Yea, it seemed like C9 kept getting caught out/losing end of teamfights, but were still in it by objective control or something. Zuna/his bro kept getting caught in melee mode playing squishy/carrys (I think), and right before they died, they popped Zhonya's except Heroes Zhonya's turns them into a fuqqing Thor.

Also with all the revive (resurgence of storm or w.e), it was a bit silly, deaths rarely seemed to matter. There also seemed to lack the "oomph" of big strong spells being used, the only noticeable ones were the transformation spells, turning Tychus into a fucking Odin.

Unfamiliar viewers are always going to understand the impact and strength of spells based in physicality more than magic or arcane type stuff. Compare annie's spells to gragas' for example. none of annies spells are really impactful looking when they go off nor do they look very threatening. but as players we know that tibbers is a big deal, and annies spells can turn a fight. gragas however, is throwing himself all around slamming people with a big cask, and hurling a giant exploding barrel. its easier to see his power without understanding the game, compare to annies particle effect based spells.

I watched every Heroes game at Blizzcon, and given the heroes picked was a really small number, felt like I was learning the skills pretty well come the grand final. That said, the game was STILL a clusterfuck.

It's tough judging a game that is clearly in its infancy, but there's something about the pacing of teamfights(especially early, before some of the huge skills) that just makes it look like a mass of bodies fighting without much actually happening. Maybe it's because so many shields and heals were popular right now, and that can change, I dunno. I just know I didn't really enjoy watching it, and I gave it an honest effort.

Ehhh, Tibbers is pretty obvious. But what I will say is LoL does a pretty good job of correlating visual effects with strength of spell.

Soem of the things you guys are saying are legit, but others are just ignorant (which isn't an issue, but understand that you guys should try playing the game a bit, it's pretty fun). Resurgence of the Storm is something you level, which means it is at the expense of something else significant that you could have leveled, and also has a massive CD. I don't see where this goes wrong as opposed to a buyback mechanic.

The problem is that "death" seems kind of arbitrary because of the characters they were on. Tychus, for example, had his Odin health bar, his normal one, and if need be his resurgence. Given the small size of the maps, this often made the characters it was on feel like they had 2-3 lives before they actually died in a fight. When it was on the winning team, it felt like they were alive so long that they could span the cooldown and rarely died without it.

Granted, I never played the game and barely watched any of it, but it had a very Yorick/Zilean comp level of persistence without sacrificing other player's ults and on multiple characters.
