Shadow Dragon's improvements over FE3 are actually disappointingly few.

Like Moonbear said, those are FAITHFUL remake of FE1 and FE3 - therefore, it comes with the mechanics of the old system. It's honestly really BORING to play because it doesn't have much except choosing units with good growth and kill everything the old fashioned way.
lol you haven't played FE3. FE3 didn't even have Weapon Triangle or class-specific stat caps (all stat caps were 20, even for promoted units). These were all additions to the game in Genealogy.
That said, Shadow Dragon still brings very little that's new to the table.
Also, I still maintain that the SNES Emblems are superior to the GBA ones. It's actually kind of interesting comparing Genealogy/Thracia and the GBA Emblems and how much they TOOK OUT only to re-add it in FE9/10. They literally went backwards in terms of gameplay for the GBA Emblems only to rearrive at more or less the same place with FE9 and get praise for it because the newer generation/Western audiences hadn't played Genealogy or Thracia.

As far as I can tell it's the same freaking game. Level setup are exactly the same, the mechanics are similar. The story is a snore-feast.
I can't believe IS made those two crappy games. They were really bad.

IIRC the theory is that given the mediocre sales for PoR and RD (given how long it had been since IS released a console FE, GC/Wii weren't really the right market for one), Shadow Dragon and Shin Monshou were essentially cash grabs for IS to keep the series afloat (especially given how badly Western audiences were dying for a Marth game and so were therefore willing to buy a shitty remake).

That's really too bad. I'm definitely one of those western fanboys dying for a good Marth game. I'll just play FE9 in that case. Ike is okay too I suppose, and I've heard so much good about it. Is RD worth playing after as well?

I tried Genealogy, and I hated it. The UI is really outdated and it's extremely annoying to play because of it.
I am sure the game is fine, but it's like recommending BW when SC2 is available. Surely BW has its strengths but it's too outdated for me to feel comfortable enough to recommend to anyone.

You recommend SC2 to people over BW?
You're a bad person.

Some people like RD, but I personally hated it. It definitely has its strength and you will enjoy it if you like PoR.
I would say PoR is really well made. Well, except the part of Ike spamming Aether like a god.

Also, which dated UI elements are you referring to, because there's nothing I remember being worse than the GBA Emblems? Although 9-12 do have better UIs.

OK Genealogy's UI is like BW's except 10 times worse/outdated. When the game does not allow unit threat range highlighting (especially when everything moves so fast in the game) nor combat prediction, it's frustrating to play.
Sorry, but it's supposed to be a game and it's supposed to be fun to play. Genealogy is not fun to play unless you grew up with that kind of crappy UI.

My one issue when I play fire emblem is that I think I get too worked up over keeping everyone evenly leveled, and just put them in really bad spots sometimes trying to do so.

Genealogy does have threat range highlighting, unless you mean newer-FE style persistently-on range highlighting, in which case, the GBA Emblems don't have that either.
Combat preview is again literally the exact same as it is in the GBA Emblems, so this is some ridiculous double-standard if you're OK with the GBA Emblems but not Genealogy.

In Genealogy you can't see how much damage you will do to a target directly. Everything has to be calculated. Now I am actually OK with that because it's simple subtraction. But the game does not tell you if you will double the target either, so I literally need to open up my unit and the target's stats and compare.
Genealogy desperately needs the persistent highlighting. For the GBA games it's fine because mapd are small and units are slower in the number of cells they can move. Genealogy haa huge maps amd it's really hard to see what is going on unless you spend your time clicking on lots of things.
I'm sorry, maybe you like games like that, but I certainly don't. Games are supposed to be fun; if the game is annoying to play it's a bad game.

Sounds like you will like the BEXP system in FE9!

What are your gripes with the GBA FE UI (I only played 7)? I don't remember nothing really annoying me on that front.

Also I'm going through a huge srpg stint still, just finished Tactics Ogre, and I wanted to try another Fire Emblem game. My love of Smash has turned into a love of Marth, so which is the best Fire Emblem featuring Marth? haha
edit: I've only played Awakening and Sacred Stones Did you really finish it? Man I'm slow (the fact that I haven't played it for months after getting stuck on a horribly difficult mission didn't help; man these dark knights or whatever the name of that special class is have such huge stats). Or are you talking about the GBA Tactics Ogre (Knight of Lodis)? It's much easier, alot shorter too but still enjoyable and it's basically the same system with a few class differences. Choices are still rather meaningful and change the end.

Hey guys, I just started playing some Heroes of The Storm with one of my friends (borrowing Nafta's acc), and a third friend really wishes to join. So I was wondering if anyone would be willing to lend my friend your acc (preferably someone from EU that know they can trust me), obviously we will ask anytime we would like to borrow it and we would not buy anything on the acc.

GBA FE's UI is fine. I am saying SNES FE's UI sucked.

Yango seemed to say that he didn't like several things about the GBA UI either, I was addressing that.
