Also, what's the best way to apply for jobs nowadays? Career fairs made it EZPZ but now that I am on the internet I don't get it. I go to sites like indeed.com, simplyhired.com, etc. and after making a profile on those websites, when I apply for the jobs they ALSO ask for a profile/resume/everything soooooo like what's the point? Seems redundant neh?
IMO come live in San Diego, take my job. It would be fitting.
Not really a computers job though.

creating a training video is so much harder than casting
I'm such a perfectionist with this type of shit, and when we were casting it's not like we could go back and fix things, so I never had to worry about it

Haha yeah except we used to agonize over the shitty parts when we were done

It upsets me that I may not be able to see Avengers 2 cuz' Thailand.

sure, but it's not like we could go back and do edits (which we absolutely would have if we could)
now I'm just sitting here trying to figure out how the fuck to use camtasia cuz I've never really done anything like this

I have faith in you marmy. especially if you don't duo with me.
Jon Galt: the best way to get a job now is to pick a company you want to work for and go to their "careers" or "jobs" section onilne. Put in the time to set up a flattering profile, and apply to the job you want with a custom cover letter and resume targeted to the job. zzzzz yes it seems redundant when you already made a profile. when i was looking for a job each application took so long because of this. After you apply at the googles microsofts and ibms of your choosing then i'd hit the workopolis monster jobhunter websites to look for openings(those examples might only be canadian). when you see something promising i would still go to the company site and see if you can apply through that instead of through the job website (forcing you to probably fill out another lamo profile). or come to ontario and work as a software engineer with me.
it sucks that we have to spend like an hour setting up an online application where most companies don't even have the decency to acknowledge you, but you definitely wont be acknowledged if you half ass it.
I also tried just showing up at companies in a suit with resumes being like "hi can i talk to human resources" and they were >75% of the time like errr... apply online silly old school fella what are you 50 years old?
the actual best way to get a job is to know the person hiring people. hearing about jobs through people you know is better than searching internet too. phyvo has good points but I have more faith in the internet cause it worked for me despite taking forever. I mean it took forever to apply not find a job.

Also my company's always hiring, is in IT, and pays out the butt, but then you will also lose your will to live faster than Roffles can get banned.

JonGalt: look for a federal government job. You qualify for non competitive eligibility so you have a much easier time getting a cushy secure federal job.
USAJobs.gov yo.

Additionally, if you are just looking for a job and not a particular company or anything, I would not shy away from recruiters. I've gotten two jobs through recruitment firms, and loved both.
They don't work for everyone and sometimes need some time to find you the right place, but it doesn't hurt to give your resume to a bunch and let them look. The worst that comes from it is that they'll constantly contact you even once you have a job, but just start ignoring them and they'll go away (or keep a good line of communication in case your job doesn't work out).

Best way to find jobs nowadays are connections inside companies.

It's 2014, and 40 hour work weeks are still a thing... this is not what the future was supposed to look like.

I wish I had a 40 hour week...
50 hour weeks are a drag.

Only gets worse as pensions very quickly become a thing of the past.
Could be even worse I suppose, I could be my current supervisor who works minimum 60h weeks plus whenever he's on call and dependent on the surgery volume.
Watching him work I don't regret not going to med school.
