I'm talking about your "I don't click videos with japanese characters in the title" principle.
Hah, gotcha. It's not really a principle, but you guys always post them during work hours, and I generally like to listen to rock/metal/etc while working, or something like chillstep that I can really zone out to.

I know Shovel Knight a lot because a friend of mine linked it while he played (he links a lot of stuff, and tries to make me play a lot of stuff; he hasn't yelled at me yet for starting Commando instead of one of these), pretty good on its own but same as Touhou, I wouldn't link that to a non-gamer for example (or even some gamers) because 8-bit sound irks people when they expect "music". (About the VN stuff, MonMusu uses mostly free of right music and amateur works (likely with their permission considering I recognised a circle's name in the credits)... including a celtic folk arrange of a touhou song (itself self-admittedly inspired by a celtic song, I assume the people arranging it don't know and it makes me laugh).)
So Wave liked Evangelion after all the "wtf is this shit" posts? Kaiji was very fun for the first season, but it's... particular, both graphically and in its over the top manner.
Here's for me ('cause Fx won't like it if there are 10 Flash thingies on the page ready to devour all of the PC's RAM). I assume it's not exactly good for people who haven't played Umineko, though, but it fits the spirit of the game (and of most scenes it appears in) to a T, with the dignified music playing for a cheerful reunion of people before turning into a horrific, yet (most importantly) grotesque scene, while retaining the cheerfulness all along as if nothing special was happening. (Edit: it's not a description of a scene, it's what the progression of the music evokes to me; although a few scenes were it's used play out like that, and it's so fitting it makes them creepier.)
First of all, Alaric, reading comprehension. I even clarified for Ketara.
Second, what's with this VN stuff? I suppose they get included in the 'gaming' category because I don't want to be that guy, but is that REALLY what people think of when they hear video game music? The soundtracks that go with visual novels? Maybe it's me being an old man again, but 8-bit is the absolute FIRST thing I would expect anyone to think of when talking about VG music, and I while I am aware that it does tend to annoy people who expect 'regular music,' that's not what we're doing here. I'm not looking to introduce my wife to the glorious world of Mega Man, I'm linking fucking video game music on a video game forum.
I could do it, "metal" touhou arranges just happen to not be to my tastes at all, they for the most part either feel bland copy-pasted generic "metal" sound with bits of the original melody crammed somewhere, or just "noisy" (I dislike it when the guitar/drums are too fast and/or don't separate their notes well, I can acknowledge that it's a technical feat but don't appreciate it as a listener, it becomes a mash-up to me).
So instead I link stuff like Nektar.
WHENEVER I POST YOU GUYS POSTED 7 TIMES IN -BETWEEN WAVE, IT'S NOT MY FAULT D: I mean. I guess I can't keep up. I'm the old guy now.
As for the music, it depends on where you get it from I guess. There's a bunch of music I like from games I have never played, but for the most part it pertains to the genres I like, and Umineko happens to be one of these games-I-started-but-have-yet-to-finish that I enjoyed the most. I mean, if you look at the Ace Combat series, they're video games, right? But their soundtracks aren't exactly 8-bit.
PS: gotta agree with Wave's choice over Ketara's about ShatterHand. Ketara, do you even 8 bit?
If Frudgey's serious he's putting his ban to good use by working instead of listening to all that. I mean, we're mighty anti-productive here.
And I know where Touhou comes from, Wave, the sad thing is that whenever I try to explain Touhou I tell them "R-Type? Ikaruga? ... Space Invaders?" then I shake my head. And I spent almost 15 minutes finding that one. Uhg, that one version is so annoying to find back on youtube. x_x
I always have background stuff at home though, and when it isn't a stream most of the time it's that playlist, been the case for a good 2+ years I'd say, so even if it's updated regularly, there's a bunch of games like Dustforce, TWEWY, Super Meat Boy and others which good soundtracks I'm bound to have heard about (seriously, the Battlefields and Airport Tycoon tracks aren't ones I'd have thought of before listening to this if you asked me about good game music).
That Smash arrange for the Temple theme was used in WVGCW as Zelda's CAW entry, way to sound badass as heck while walking to a ring in a pink dress.
Alaric I can see why you think I might like that, it's sort of got the style but lacks the heart imo. And plz Chrono Trigger is child's play, just pick a song and throw it at thread: instant 'best music evar.' Put a little THOUGHT into things, people. At least Alaric is trying.
