I'm sorry i'm not following. of course you should buy runes, i like buying runes, I like using runes lol. i said skill is the most important factor. you can't focus on skill until you get the runes though, because you'll just keep losing. its a mandatory grind in order to attempt to improve. thats the flaw in it.

What's a good key setup in Dota2 for someone used to LoL's (1-6 for items etc.)?

I disagree and believe that you should usually be focusing on skill, get your 2 rune pages when you are lvl 20 then keep focusing on skill. generally you are matched against people around the same level so there is rarely a rune descrepancy. A gold level person with a generic first 2 rune AD/AP page would probably beat a silver player with faker's rune set up. I'd rather they didn't take away my ability to collect and customize now that i've got IP to throw around. Its not a barrier to playing as much as its an additional feature.

LOL this is probably the most absurd notion you've had yet. Runes have nothing to do with improving, all it means is that you will have to make your estimations based on them having slightly better stats but thankfully gold players are so fucking awful thers plenty of opportunity to exploit some time they waste a skill to last hit or something to make up for having like 10 less armour lo
playing vs runes without runes being impossible is like saying beating a lane that should beat you with "perfect play" being impossible. Not being able to win lane because you were "counterpicked" is just a bullshit excuse terrible players use to justify losing.
I mean theoretically no two champions are exactly even anyway so in theory you can never improve because in every matchup you either win the trade or lose the trade at some point and when you're stronger he just wont fight so you lose every trade and have to play passively good logic px

How to you ironically sip starbucks? Flannel and tight pants are main stream in Sweden.

I'm not gonna lie I got to gold without realizing what rune pages were :|. I had no idea runes existed even after i hit 30 cause I just wasn't paying attention

conversely the existence of only one currency makes it seem pretty clear that this will serve to increase blizzards profits which is probably the main reason they did it which is a dick move.
on whether or not runes are good, i think they add a lot of positive to league, having to slightly play around not knowing what your enemies runes are compared to having perfect knowledge of your opponents character every game is a trade off i would personally lean towards the rune side on. it definitely give you room to be more creative, feels good when you set up specific pages and they work well, lets you do unorthodox things with your characters. if we reduced the builds in league by over 2 thirds maybe new players and dota enthusiasts would complain less but i'd probably enjoy the game less too. i had a pretty good time collecting and building my pages over the years. Also, a lot of "real gamers" are "growing up" and getting a family and such, which reduces time available for gaming grinding.

You can still use 1-6. Just use F1 as your hero and F2 as the courier.
I personally use Q W E R D F as skills with 4 5 6 Z X C as inventory in both games. F3 is my shop and 1-3 I use for courier/summons/hero.

Going to Italy in 3 days pretty excited. Don't make fun of me for this, but what is it like going to a foreign country from another european country? is it exciting and foreign or is it like you are excited to get to the cool place you heard about. travelling overseas from the US has a certain connotation of "adventure" kind of, while travel between states is more about the destination and what you have planned. since the US is too big to have a short trip to foreign countries for most people, i don't know the feeling of travelling across a continent to a foreign land.

So I can down 2 cups of coffee and still fall asleep when I'm tired but somehow 160mg of caffeine will keep me wired until 6AM.

You never see people with "oops wrong page/masteries" like the traditional marksman with AP setup still trashing on his opponent? Yeah. Sure he has to try harder than otherwise but it's not like he automatically loses from his missclick/Riot's UI fucking up once again.

I understand but those people are not complaining when a new mmo comes out because they can't start at level 60 with legendary equipment. Maybe my opinion is tinted by the biggest game out there but its not necessary that everyone starts every game with equal outside advantage (like starcraft) in a moba. I think by the time you are at level 30 you have enough to have a basic set of runes that will make skill the determining factor in your matches. The fact that level 1-29 exists is more of a barrier to play than the existence of rune pages imo.

can you please stay on topic? nothing you just said is actually discussion, the entire post was ad hominem I was replying to your post about improving I was merely stating out facts when I said it was absurd. I don't think anyone else would disagree with me.

that last post you made was clearly directed at me and not the content of my post. Do you disagree with that? That's the definition of ad hominem. Your posts are wrought with false assumptions and you brush aside direct criticism as "flamebait".
If you mean by being offtopic in the offtopic thread, the original post which I was talking about was about league of legeds, so if it makes you happy, I reported it for being on-topic in the off-topic thread.
