Decent dude, he's not like a douche or anything, but he's got serious problems accepting losses and looking at his mistakes (not unlike some people on online games). We let him proxy his army because he's not sure what he wants to buy yet, but he ends up bringing the same list every single game. He goes Space Marine all Infantry with no vehicles (other than a Dreadnaught sometimes), and then complains when more rounded, balanced lists are able to beat him. He's the sort of guy that cries OP as soon as something is on the table that he didn't bring an answer to, even though he has it in his book, and other times he'll just play horribly (camping units that should be on the front lines hunting MCs, rushing forward with a squad that wants to be in cover, etc). I dunno if I should help him out or just keep playing against him until he learns or asks for helps. Try and help him, if anything to see if he can be taught. If not, or if he responds aggressively to the offer, just stomp his ass and devour his tears.

Like "any reason you use x in your list instead of y?" or something of the sort - something to provoke a little thought so that if he's actually interested in learning, it might open something up or flip a switch.

I dunno if I should help him out or just keep playing against him until he learns or asks for helps. In this situation I'd say only help him out if he asks for it. Hopefully he'll learns from his mistakes, but from the way you're going about it, it seems likely that me might never learn. That being said, I am a firm believer of only giving advice for when it is asked. I don't think that unsolicited advice will help the situation. Of course, you can make the offer to help him, but it's up to him if he takes you up on your offer. But a Space Marine army that is only infantry with the occasional Dreadnought? That totally sounds like the kind of army that I'd field if I ever played Warhammer table top. And actually, that was the army style that I used the most when playing Dawn of War 1 as the Space Marines.

I dunno if I should help him out or just keep playing against him until he learns or asks for helps. Having delt with this quite a bit there are one of two things that can happen in terms of HOW NERDS REACT IN SOCIAL SITUATIONS. 1) You will tell him his list is bad and that his choices are bad and will ultimately lose games unless he does x y and z. He will take your advice and go on to be some kind of super champion of something silly land or atleast play marginally better. 2) You will tell him his list is bad and that his choices are bad and will ultmately lose game unless he does x y and z. He will hear what you are saying, call you a douchebag and keep doing it anyway, because he does this to have fun and who are you to tell him what he can and cannot do. Tabletop/Card Game/Figures nerds have one thing in common. They are all think they fucking know everything about the system they are playing, even when they more than likely do not and if that tiny fallacy is proven to them that they DO NOT know everything they get a massive blow to their ego where they either HAVE to change, or just stop playing all together. I call it the Neckbeard Fallacy.
