I think 4nights and a long plane ride worth of playing is worth the cost, though. req did you see my post on previous page about the magic system could use your help ^_^ I mean, the way you have the gems set up based on charges spunds ok, but creating your own magic system is more difficult than not. If you want to do something freeform, that is, not based on rigid spellbooks, there are systems out there (I think GURPS does this) where they allow you to create spells based on different parameters. On the other hand, you as the DM can just fudge it and say "sure you can cast a beam of sand, it does X damage and has Y range because I think that's fair" or "sure you can create a gust of wind of those dimensions" and then reduce charges as you see fit. However, it is then up to you to make sure it IS fair, for both your system/story and the players as well. Alternatively, you can set costs for certain types of spells, like a damage blast costs 1 charge and an extra charge for each next dice worth of damage it does. Then an buff/debuff spell costs 3 charges baseline plus another 2 charges per additional effect or 1 charge per minute of duration. And of course, you have to give out gems with enough charges and track them, but you know that already. That's my preliminary thoughts, come Monday I'll be back home and can type out more in depth.

As long as the magic users are well aware of all the parameters of their spells before hand, and that they always act that way, then I don't see what the problems are. From a lore standpoint, I much prefer lores where magic is sparingly rare, and only a few can use. A lot less work for DM, and a lot less magic loopholes when they've leveled up.

Yeah, magic is relatively rare at the current time of the campaign certain types of magic are even thought to be extinct, with the bloodlines dying out. most mages exist as high level court advisors or hermits. the world is mostly dealing with the consequences of a golden age of magic hundreds of years ago. I thought i should at least allow a player to be a mage, but i'd have to warn them it'll be difficult for them to continue being welcome in cities without the protection of a powerful noble if they make their powers known.

Excellent acting, from amazing actors. Great cinematography, plot, character development. Super amazing.

Somewhat ironic, Eirika who has a strong sense of duty and feels like the country needs her help is way less capable and fit to rule than Ephraim, who would like to just become some nameless mercenary My favourite character is Innes. What a fucking beast
