Especially when there is retard strength amounts of money on the line. It's like the super bowl of esports and it makes the games stupid hype. Like last year when Liquid took on LGD in the winner Moneys the loser goes home with nothing game. The ending got me so hype that I ended up waking up everyone in my house. You don't get those kinds of endings with nothing on the line or with lots of tournaments that have no meaning. You do however get story lines which is always a plus side. | ||

That model seems to work alright for the major sports leagues in America. Now, don't take that as too literal a comparison, there are mountains of other differences, but the idea that Valve is holding the scene back because it hosts 1 major tourney that dwarfs the others is just incorrect. Also, DotA has like 4 $100k+ events this year not named The Interntational. | ||

By what criteria are LCS/LCS-like tournaments (LPL, OGN) considered major tournaments but events like Starladder, WPC, G-League, or DreamLeague aren't? Waytocoolman pls. If you're discounting tournaments with prize pools that large, the LCS tournaments don't count either. | ||
