You're always going to have crap (hi Inuyasha), but on the whole the popular series that predate the current Shonen Jump running manga were much better.
I don't read One Piece but I hear that's good. I'm mainly talking about the other two of the "Big 3" Yu-Yu Hakusho is one of my top tier ANIMES. Yeah that's right. I said it. It's been a long time since I watched the anime, but from what I remember it was pretty close for the first few arcs, no? Where does it end in relation to the manga?
The anime and manga are almost completely spot on. The only major differences is in the anime kurama and yoko kurama are 2 separate entities that converse with one another, when in the manga they are the same being and don't. Obviously because it's an anime yuuske doesn't curse as much in the anime as he does in the manga. The biggest change is during the 3 kings arc, where the anime takes a far lighter tone on the whole incident while the manga has a lot more darker parts. (like the manga is more graphic about Mukuro being a sex slave in the past), and the anime adds in a lot of fights and things that didn't happen during the actual tournament (like the entire yuuske vs yomi fight which in the manga it was very quick while in the anime he unlocks sacred energy and nearly wins, touya's fight, etc).

That's why One Piece exists. Quality forever. Really? I tried watching One Piece and the only vibe I got from it was "Naruto with Pirates." Please no more. Yall call cheep and roffles cancer, but this is the true cancer right here. "naruto with pirates" wtf That's just like, my opinion, man.
I mean every shounen is similar in certain aspects. I just find it ridiculous to simplify one shounen into another like that. Again, "naruto with pirates". wtf?

Pretty sure you guys are all oblivious.
The best anime is clearly Yu-Gi-Oh, the world's greatest children's card game.

The pharaoh is a hardcore motherfucker. Ice veins.

From what I can gather the YuGiOh mangas are like, absurdly different from the animes they might as well be entirely separate stories

Inuyasha is a guilty pleasure of mine. I have no regrets mentioning this here but I'am certain it'll bite me in the ass someday.

I remember being so hype when YuGiOh had the 2v2 duel with the Paradox Brothers, and YuGi/Joey combo'd to make the Black Skull Dragon.
After watching that, I tried to make a board maze so I could play with friends with the exact same setup as the show.
Funny how thinking back, we played it so wrong. "Turn one Blue Eyes go. WAIT WHAT DO U MEAN I HAVE TO SACRIFICE CREATURES?"

Besides Toonami, Adult Swim (and specifically Inuyasha) really got me into anime during that time. And the intro song/ending songs by Dream/DoA in the first season of Inuyasha was sooooooooooooooooooooooo good fuqq.
