And that's just blunt trauma, not even going into the fun explosive/psychic backfire stuff.

Some games death is kinda the best part (call of cthulhu) and my personal favorite is Dark Heresy/Rogue Trader thanks to the crit charts. Everything from just a grazing blow that slows you a turn to a full out hit from a hammer that ruptures your organs causing blood to shoot from your orifices and sending you back a few meters and throne hope no ones in the path of your now dead projectile corpse. And that's just blunt trauma, not even going into the fun explosive/psychic backfire stuff. I wish I had a good crit effects table for Next. It's rumored to have one when the game actually releases. Escape: The Curse of the Temple is the first one that comes to mind. Obv. it's easy to do badly - you gotta make sure that they're fair, challenging, and reasonably unpredictable. Some good ones: Forbidden Island/Desert, Castle Panic! There's also the semi-coop games like the BSG board game (super hilarious) and Betrayal at House on the Hill.

Betrayal was the other one I was thinking of. Lots of fun, but took a full game (~45min with 5 people) for me to really understand what was going on. Yeah, is that available to look at online for free? I'm sure my friend would help me homebrew a crit chart if we had one to base it off of.
