This legend tournament was a fantastic idea. And while the games were obviously quite different and the play styles a bit outdated compared to current pros, I thought all 4 of them did very well all things considered. And man I miss the strong personalities of MC and Stephano, no offense to the current pros but I think SC2 is kinda missing some of those expressive and fun players.

Definitely, people underestimate how important it is for a scene to be interesting for a big portion of people. Gameplay is one thing, but a lot of people stick around for tangential things too, like personality.

Serral is resolutely charismatic through the prism of him being Finnish. Joking aside I think he’s actually quite personable, just in a very dry, blunt way.
Mary’s just a shy fellow and you’ve got the language barrier too, and hey that’s personality too.
Maybe we have less bombastic personalities on stage these days but on the flip side you do have decent pros like Harstem and Lambo making quality content on the side that you didn’t used to get

Serral has about the same personality as INnoVation, which is not to say that INnoVation had no personality unlike what most people would say, he was quite cheeky from time to time, but yeah. If Serral was korean he would definitely get the faceless treatment, he only gets a pass because he's a foreigner and winning everything.

That was more in his later days though, I remember his interviews in 2013/14 really were so blatantly boring, it felt like a basic AI was answering
