Hard fought battle for Dark. I thought he threw with his big attack, but Rogue didn't try to allin with his muta after that, probably scared of the counter attacks, and was too far behind to recover.
Quite an epic series with 3-2 narrow victory for Dark and an effin' draw!

in retrospect it might've been better if he played more decisively (either by being more greedy or trying to go for a big push with the mutas) but he took a risk by trying to find weak points with the mutalisks, which would have made it difficult to defend the new expansions.

Dark really put a good series against Rogue. I guessed any offline series where Rogue 3-2's lose to anyone in quarterfinal definitely delivered the best. It reminded me when Rogue lose to Maru in quarterfinal GSL last couple of years ago, which was also a hell good series as well, before he managed to break the curse and won the Code S for the first time.

Rogue couldn't do anything after the queen push. He went to 20-ish drones against Dark's 40. Dark was just sending units Rogue's way to keep him home and Rogue had to defend himself. When the mutas weren't at home Rogue lost a queen and more drones. Rogue couldn't attack Dark unless he wanted to go into a basetrade. And he wasn't sure he would win one(and honestly I don't blame him).

Rogue lost while defended, the eco damage was way too big.

Edit> I don't blame casters making this a game and not saying outright - well, Rogue's dead. But watchin 20 v 40 drones, 30 v 50, 50 v 60 was making it clear that once Dark makes the Hive and w/e units he wants he wins by eco advantage alone.

naah the defense was stelar, his problem was being too inefficient in the early stages of ling/bane aggression. Dark manage to be too much ahead on drones while comfortably defending.

Dark Ling control has been amazing, he always manage to find opening and punish the opponent for any slip up in their defense.

Yeah, I think the waffling back and forth while failing to aggressively expand is what caused his defeat. I don't think Rogue ever had a good idea of exactly how many spores Dark had built either, since he kept looking for weak spots as if Dark had been moving the spores around instead. Rogue seemed unwilling to fight into two or three spores and queens, but Dark had enough spores everywhere that it just took a few seconds to move the queens over.
Hard to say, but I think Rogue may just have been lacking the information and didn't update his strategy adequately after continuously failing to find a weak point.

Rogue lost like 10 drones and then lost like 8 more drones and a queen later when he moved away with his mutas. He lost the game right there, too much eco damage. SC2 in a nutshell.
