Yeah. It does feel like for the past few years of tournament winners have not been all that surprising. Not like HotS where you end up with players like Stardust winning a bit out of nowhere.

I'm so happy that we have Byun back. He's just so exciting to watch. Probably my favorite Terran ever alongside Innovation, and Goody.

I would like protoss to win some tournaments at some point it will be cool, but how can anyone think P v Z has not been the worst matchup forever compared to z v z, t v t, t v z, p v t or even p v p nowadays, it's boring, it still about lame deathballs. For most starcraft 2 history matchups involving the protoss has been shit, deathball clashing and all ins (which at least are more interesting (think classic at blizzcon) it's way better now in p v t but against zerg it is still shit... The t v z that we saw tonight (reynor / maru && byun serral) were entertaining no dumb tier 3 army in the air. P V T is is good spot right now except maybe the lame mass dts, we should give more tools to protoss on the gateway units later int the game to avoid these gimmicks and to trade all over the map now its almost always better to keep a deathball and the worst you cannot remax if you lose it

Damn this byun photo looks so scary

Yea, that was part of the fun part of WoL too. Whether it was Fruitdealer winning the first GSL, or heroic tournament wins by foreigners (e.g., Stephano at IPL3, Huk at Dreamhack Summer), or random foreigners bursting onto the top tier (e.g., Puma at NASL, Leenock at MLG Raleigh)
There was an element of unpredictability that was quite nice back in those days
