Also Time shows, that his strong showing at DH Winter was no fluke :D E.: As I wrote that, TIME got destroyed 0-2 by DRG RIP
So with only Protoss qualifing in the EU qualifier and only Zergs in the Kr one, we will have Terrans only in the NA one tomorrow? I ll go with Byun, Cure and Heromarine then

Neeb should have a good shot this time.

Cure and PartinG should be favorites to qualify in the NA upper bracket

They're not by any means heavy favourites though--the brackets are stacked enough that there's quite a few players with a realistic shot, and no single player is a shoo-in. PartinG hasn't been doing too well recently, so ByuN might well even have a slightly better chance than PartinG does

Protoss really shines in qualifiers imo. Like the King of Battles qualifiers had some great Protoss performance. Now during the tournament itself...

Shows what I know. PartinG looked pretty damn good today. Capped it off 2-0ing Byun.
Byun told PartinG on stream "it'd be epic if you forfeit and let me in" lmao

Long game between Lambo and uThermal--if Armani vs uThermal is similar the winner of Elazer vs Cure will have quite a while to wait.

Wardii is still at this. He needs more credit for casting these tournaments. Keep in mind he's casting and observing by himself too. What a man!

Did Byun or Elazer win the lowerbracket qualifier?

So with the NA qualifier almost done, I did ve looked into the Korea vs foreigne games. As these are the 2nd tier EU players + Neeb and Astrea vs the 2nd Tier Korea players, this gives us some much needed insight on how these players perform against each other. As discussed in multiple other threads here, it appears that on the top level the gap between Korea and foreignland keeps on getting smaller. So let s see how the next tier of players did when facing each other:
The obvious first, so far 1 Korean and 1 foreigner Qualified and also one each is in the last qualifing match, wich let us asume, the gap in the 2nd tier players is also pretty narrow. Nevertheless there have been more noteable foreigners than Koreans, so that doesn t tell us the whole story. We actually had some early defeats from Koreans, wich is quite noteable, as both Creator and Patience, both beeing On - Off Code S players) lost their first round matches. Overall when looking at all matches between Korean and foreign players, who are "noteable" on Liquipedia we get these results: Matchscore Korea 11 - 7 foreignland Mapscore Korea 26 - 19 foreignland This let us asume, that the gap also is quite smaller than what we have seen a couple of years ago for the 2nd tier players from both regions, as the Koreans are way less dominant, than some might expect. Full overview:
Note: I excluded non-noteable players, as I asume, that those are non pros, that don t have a chance anyways. Also I just took games from liquipedia. The entire analysis is also taken with some salt, as it is just a momentary picture in an quite volatile game. Also games might have been imapcted by time of play, lag etc. I was just interstet in how things stand at the moment, as this was one very rare opportunity to see how the 2nd tier players fare against each other.

Byun defeats Elazer for the final spots
Qualified players:
EU: MaxPax, ShowTime and Harstem
KR: Solar and DongRaeGu
AM: Parting, Neeb and Byun

Thank god Elazer didn't qualify, not that dislike Elazer but it would have been so unfair to the guys eliminated in the EU quali LB.
