Well to be clearer, imo you cannot create something in thought that comes from nothing. Those thoughts must always be made out of something. But the thought-activity itself is also creative, so the imagined is not just a mere reflection/reproduction of something else, it is something new. Just not out of nothing, rather like the table is made from the pre-existing wood but is nevertheless something different and new. As for imagination and fantasies, I think psychoanalysis is on to something by stating that these are produced out of the unconscious, the un-articulated thought-material that dwells in the mind. So somehow articulating that material would also be a creative activity imo. | ||
