In reality, GSL is the most important tournament - there is a reason why sOs, the most successful player at Blizzcon (as in, whilst playing at Blizzcon) is not even in the discussion (remotely) for best sc2 player of all tiem. Well that's because Serral is still in.

I disagree, a Blizzcon win is more important than a GSL win. I'm sure the players are more motivated to win $280k than $37k. It is just that it has a week-ender format and therefore games are less refined due to the lack of preparation time. If $O$ wins his 3rd Blizzcon, he's a strong candidate to GOAT protoss to say the least.

This weekend is starting off way better than the last one. nope, Maru still got bopped by cannons and supply depots 3-0 And it was amazing. eh, it kinda delegitimizes the game, I watch those 3 games and think that might as well have been col.cruncher vs drewbie If anything, I think it's the opposite. Good players win by using standard builds and strategies really well. Only a truly great player can win by using something that's not meant to be good. It validates Starcraft as a game of strategy, and not just a skill dump where you when by playing lots. Tricks, mind-games, and intelligence absolutely should be part of the game, and being able to upset a titan by using them perfectly makes the game better, not worse. That's a old debate, I prefer the good old macro game with a lot tactical depth which u do not acquire just by "playing a lot", sorry but that's a stupid raisonning, in this case everyone would be Taeja rather than the non stop mind game or/and coin flip like sOs does in 100k tournaments. A bit of the two like Life did is probably the best but seeing how mindgame on build order can be so much more successful than a tactical macro monster play in sc2 particulary on the protoss side made me really dislike the race. Well, sOs at least has good mechanics unlike has.
