wait Serral signature series is 10 min long

So? Anyway you can pretty safely take a 30 up to maybe even 45 minute break after each series without missing stuff.

Blind countering Maru's proxies (and pylon scouting, too) Every single game must have been quite a series It was absolutely glorious but proxy rax is the best strategy in TvP! For someone who doesn't really follow the game, this strategy feels really bizzare coming from BW. Maybe things are different due to the higher starting work count.Tbh people blame Maru builds but these were not really the issue past first game : Second game versus photons if you don't defend and only attack with reaper+proxy cyclone (fly factory inbase ) you straight up win with 2 reapers 2 cyclones versus 1 zelots 1 stalker. Third game, probably still under the photon rush shock, Maru missed second supply. From here it's nearly GG. 4 SCVs, huge huge mining time and everything delayed 30 seconds when you supposed to rush everything... So... maybe if Maru played some EU mid-master he would have know how to respond to photon rushing while proxy-ing, and then gain confidence instead of crumple... Either way even 2018 Maru is human and can have bad day or sickness (never saw him in years play that bad tbh). Let's see if Serral too is human. Or they thought sOs has better chances of winning it(because of Stats) so they prepared sOs and Rogue? Practicing your ZvT against Maru is by far the best preparation you can get and then your TvP is... bad?

This weekend is starting off way better than the last one. nope, Maru still got bopped by cannons and supply depots 3-0 And it was amazing. eh, it kinda delegitimizes the game, I watch those 3 games and think that might as well have been col.cruncher vs drewbie If anything, I think it's the opposite. Good players win by using standard builds and strategies really well. Only a truly great player can win by using something that's not meant to be good. It validates Starcraft as a game of strategy, and not just a skill dump where you when by playing lots. Tricks, mind-games, and intelligence absolutely should be part of the game, and being able to upset a titan by using them perfectly makes the game better, not worse.

No, the only one being delegitimized here is Maru

The more I think about it, the more I believe that Maru wasn't really aiming for beeing the champion... He just didn't care. It's hard to imagine he didn't care about 200+k $ but it's also hard to believe that was the best he was capable of. Maybe he just had a really off day There's also the answer as old as progaming itself: teamkills suck. Indeed they do. And yet, that should not stop you from giving your best.

The first game was a crushing loss, so it may have been that. sOs was so prepared for the build and there was nothing that Maru could do right. He played right into sOs, so by the time things started to go wrong in game 2, I think he was really struggling from a psychological perspective.

In reality, GSL is the most important tournament - there is a reason why sOs, the most successful player at Blizzcon (as in, whilst playing at Blizzcon) is not even in the discussion (remotely) for best sc2 player of all tiem.
