Usually, I root for the foreigners over the Koreans, but sOs and Zest are two of my absolutely favourite players, so I'm kinda hoping for that sOs/Zest finals.

That's the excuse when he loses, but he's also trying pretty hard in SC2 again from what I understand
If by "trying hard" you mean sneaking into global events through the Africa qualifier then I would agree. Stephano is looking for side money. Nothing wrong with that but let's not let nostalgia run away with things.

he's just playing straight up retarded. Stephano's only style in ZvP is sub 50drones hydra/ling and he plays into it twice in a row.
It still bothers me that one of the fastest units in the game, that can also fucking fly, has a massive AOE vision tag in a game where information is the literal most important thing

i would like to see making the area of efect smaller or make it last less the more units it tags

It just shouldn't be an ability period. Maybe put it on another unit with bigger limitations (slower and/or not air) but Oracles are already fucking good without it and the ability itself is so antiRTS. Here's "free" vision

not bad, Stephano did much better than expected vs Zest, took one game and was close in another
edit. the overall production has been pretty good so far too

Thanks, so I guess the rumors of Zest's horrendous PvZ were greatly exaggerated. Then again, Stephano is far from Elazer, and Elazer isn't Dark.
Production looks nice, but lmao those bright yellow arrows left on the screen.

Nah, you need gosu ghost micro and TIME doesn't have it.
Given that this event is supposed to promote Starcraft towards newcomers (Artosis explaining creep lmao) I actually think it's a good thing that the best players aren't here.
There seem to be fewer entertaining games among the very best players than among the second-tiers. Probably because when the best are playing, the first one to make a mistake just instaloses. Whereas when both players are making mistakes, the game seesaws and continues on in entertaining fashion. And of course, if herO or Dark or Inno were here, watching them just roflstomp everyone else wouldn't be entertaining for a lot of people either.
That being said, when the best players really break out the big guns the games can get insanely epic (but that happens rarely at best).

On Eastwatch? Nah, terran just has to survive long enough (which he didn't), and it isn't too hard. I saw TIME do that against the admittedly weaker Toodming in GPL.

Remember, the average BW Proleague game was a ZvZ you couldn't stand, and the average MLB game is a 6-2 snooze for two non-playoff teams :D
The % of "very good games" is always low by definition. It's more that games that are bad in SCII can be really bad, worse than in most games imo.

Eastwatch is good for that style, true, but that doesn't help if your ghostball keeps getting fungalled or your bases get ransacked by cracklings or any of the other mistakes that TIME made.
Also I'm getting mildly annoyed by the amount of hype Tastosis is putting into this. Not every move is the best move ever, and not ever player is the best player ever. And even if they were (in which case it should be self-evident), saying that repeatedly gets old fast. Reminds me of Katowice last year. I guess allowances can/should be made for the newcomers though.

Not every Olympic match is good.
If Bly randomly slipped into first place at this tournament I'd call it an amazing tournament

Yes but this is a special event to promote esport and Starcraft in particular, i find it unfortunate that there is this kind of game.

Eric Moussambani made it through Olympic qualifiers despite being a terrible swimmer due to his competition being DQed due to false starts. He barely succeeded in swimming the 100m even so.

If you're a Scarlett I'm sure you liked it, but there's no denying that a ling flood is very, very far from the pinnacle of SC2

Hail Mary throws in sportsball are also far from the "pinnacle of sportsball" but that doesn't mean people don't like them.

Not the pinnacle of sc2 for sure, but from a spectator's perspective I always felt a quick, action-packed cheese game is much more entertaining (and funny) than a long macro game that ends at the first push because one player just had more. I'm exaggerating of course but you see what I mean.
People have different expectations for game quality I guess, I loved GSL's group H with all my molecules

Because a Hail Mary is......a Hail Mary? A last-ditch desperate attempt that miraculously works despite all odds. Who doesn't love the underdog getting beaten to hell before coming back at the last second?
And then we have a ling flood, creeping up behind the other player and shanking them in the back.
Don't get me wrong, cheese is necessary part of Starcraft. But one player's workers dying to the other player's units is not entertaining by any definition (unless you are a big fan of one player of course, but even then it's more "Yay my favorite player won" instead of of "Yay look at workers dying")

Except there wasn't action. TIME got surprised and more or less died immediately. He let the lings in, mismicroed his reaper/hellion, and then it was just a drawn-out death animation.
Action-packed cheese games are amazing, like when Maru and Inno both double proxied each other and the game came down to a single reaper grenade. But when one player just sucker punches the other and the game ends instantly?

Kinda. He didn't make it through the qualifiers, he got a place at the Olympics with a lottery placement. He then won his heat at the Olympics because his two opponents DQed. He didn't make the next round because his time was so slow. Buy yea, it's a great story.
