Any Partnered Tournament, of which there are many!
Can keep an eye on SC2Online for open OSC events. Updated regularly. Shows open events and qualifiers, but not events that are already underway or invitationals. Otherwise most tournaments are usually listed here on TL.
Many events are open globally/not region locked. However, timezones are often OSC home region/WCS NA region friendly.

Great tournament a much watch and honestly Eddie has does an amazing job for the community. The OSC Participation also is 1 of the best features implemented in this system this year and is very rewarding to the dedicated players.Show your support by watching the finals!!!
|
Really exited for this! Been pushing myself through the ranks and its been incredible having all these ground up and bigger tournaments for the SEA and NA scene to play in. Hopefully the it will finish with a big finale and then move on to an even greater season in 2017
|
OSC Gives you alot of experience and helps you to growth as a player, personally OSC was a big part of why i was getting better, im super exited for the finals not just because of the money also because of the competition it self there ll be 50 players of the best quality that got points through out the year. definitely stay tune for the finals and cheer for your champ.

I'm sure Byun has got this. But 50 players is bonkers!

The number of games that are to be played to determine the six players that get to play in loser's round 1 is pretty insane.

That was the saddest doom drop I have seen in a while.

Yea, you're right. However it's clear that Neeb's opening is superior to his. having 4+ disruptors as your opponents first is popping really puts you at a heavy advantage no matter the ping.

Clever build from beastyqt despite the fact that it didn't work out. He's always been good at exploiting players' tendencies.

hardluck neeb. echo is a tough map vs T for any race. See that 4 prong attack inno launched? Sick, but the map certainly helps.

Innovation won but that was the worst I've seen him play for about 3 months. Very late splits and often no reaction at all vs disruptors.

If tied on maps, tied head to head, and tied maps against top 3, next tie breaker is via 2016's OSC Rankings/results (Neeb Higher).

So are ties for seeding purposes ignored in the group stage? How was it decided that Neeb is B1 and Inno B2?

So, MaSa and Azure are tied for 3rd. 1-1 head to head. 0-4 against Top 2. MaSa is ranked 2 ranks higher in OSC, so will he advance via tiebreaker?
|
How do tiebreakers work? Masa and Azure had the exact same results and tied each other, but Azure gets to advance and Masa doesn't.

Which implies MaSa would advance based on the logic I wrote out above?

Azure went 5-5 (0-2 herO, 0-2 Losira, 2-0 NXZ, 1-1 MaSa, 2-0 Peppy) MaSa went 4-6 (0-2 herO, 0-2 Losira, 2-0 NXZ, 1-1 Azure, 1-1 Peppy)
Azure 3rd out right!

The fight for third place will be interesting

We have sad news, Hydra has had to withdraw from the Championship, due to unexpected late changes to his military leave which now results in him being required to work the weekend of the Championship Bracket.
This late change, puts us in an awkward position, as the tournament is already underway, so we can't really bring in a replacement outside of the player pool to put into the Championship Bracket, as they'd be skipping several rounds/days and disregarding 12 months of results. Also, if we leave Hydra in to be walked over, it would advantage players in certain rounds, with free advancement deeper into the tournament.
Given these factors, and the time frame we have to operate within, the OSC team have worked to design a solution, which slightly alters the playoff round format to ensure we will have a full 32 player Championship Bracket, while maintaining seeding of said bracket. It will extend the playoffs by a few more bo3's, but considering OSC Season 4 has combined for 325 Tournaments, what's the harm in a couple more games on the path to find our Champion!
Here are the changes:
Hydra will be removed from the Championship Bracket.
His spot in the upper bracket will go to the next highest seed (Scarlett)
The following 5 lower bracket players will advance one seed/position in the lower bracket to compensate.
7 Players will now get to advance from the Playoff stage!
6 x winners of qualifying matches advance as before, but now there will be a second chance for losers of said qualifying matches.
Loser of A+B will play each other, as will loser of C+D, and E+F (Bo3's).
The 3 victors will then playoff in a bo3 round robin to determine the final player to qualify. This player will be the "2nd Chance Winner"/7th Player to advance.
No penalties will apply to any qualifying match loser who elects to forfeit the second chance/7th player pathway, as we realize this is a late change to format and player agreements. Plus there may be some wait/down time for qualifying matches to complete. However, this is another chance at more money, and potentially a championship, so we hope it should be tempting!
Liquipedia has been updated to reflect these changes.

Which lucky player gets to join a group with INno and Stats to fight for one spot...
INno forfeited
|
I'm looking at brackets on wiki and thinking: Why on earth would Inno forfeit AFTER beating Impact? Whats the source on this, anyway? Was it mentioned on stream?
|
INnoVation had an appointment this evening (his time) he couldn't get out of. Must of had to leave early for it/he just ran out of time.
The second chance pathway is also optional/a late alteration to the format to compensate for Hydra's withdrawal.
If he'd 3-2'd Losira and not the other way around could have continued over the final 2 days without issue.
|
If it was an appointment it cant be helped, but I wish Impact would not have lost his chance for it.

I think it's mostly good engagements. He managed to consistently trade a little bit better in ling bane fights with Scarlett.

aw Scarlett lost to TRUE? was hoping for Scarlett vs Snute and either one against Byun. I guess Snute Byun is still on the board though

Super's PvP is pretty cool.
edit: Also what was the result of Probe-Nerchio? Liquipedia has Probe 3-0 Nerchio, but Nerchio advancing.

I walked away with the fusion core on the production tab assuming it's just lib range, then come back to a BC on the screen...

Least effective BC. Getting destroyed by disruptors. Farewell Gumi.

Did Petraeus get walkover over herO?

Yes.
Unfortunately herO was very late (showed up 90 mins late), and had to advance the bracket.

Ah damn that's a shame, thanks.

Makes sense.

It's based on OSC points accumulated over the entire year, so they aren't really being seeded.

Keen just went super saiyan?

Boo Byun won.
Huge run by Keen though.
|
LOL that final game was hilarious by KeeN
|
|
So after all that big confusing bracket and reseeds and stuff, #1 seed Byun just wins. I kind of wish Keen would have clutched it out would have made for a much better story but oh well.
|
No VodS? Sick players and games but it seems very chaotic in organization and casting but what's really disapointing is the lack of Vods! This Cup is running at the worst possible time for EU.

how did Keen lose when he went 4-2 in the finals, this format is so confusing lol

You could see it kind of like a beach volleyball match. ByuN won the first set by default by coming through the winner bracket. KeeN won the second set with his stellar play. Then ByuN won the final, shorter set, meaning ByuN is the overall winner.

Probably one of the best organized events I've broadcast. Considering it's size, we had very minimal downtime throughout the entire event and EVERY series was broadcast.
Final day broadcast from my channel : https://www.twitch.tv/wardiii/v/113157750
I'm sure you can find the same on Gauntlet Twitch etc

I would say that the tournament format was extremely confusing. The seeding, although by OSC points, was almost arbitrary. Just make the cut-off at the 32nd player and then make it a 32-man bracket with Double-elim. You can seed every player based off of their OSC rank, just to give it a bit more value, but I really dislike seeding players further up a bracket based off of something like the OSC points. And seeding into loser's bracket is pretty lame as well. I think that's okay if they actually lose a game in the tournament, but if they are just seeded there because of points..? Meh.

Very chaotic indeed, here our the vods of the final day. https://www.twitch.tv/gauntletsc2/v/113146917
There's other OSC vods as well, it was 7 days long.

But it's the OSC Championship, the whole point is that this is a large event that wraps up a year of competition. I feel like the points really achieved what they set out to do - rewarding players who had success throughout the year in OSC. People who won a couple of events and scraped into the championship? They can still win, but they have to have a crazy good run in order to do so. If they don't? They still leave with some prize money.
Players who played a lot of events through the year and placed highly? They earn a second life (winner bracket) and the very best started further in the bracket. It's a system that rewards players who have had an influence on the system throughout the year by participating and achieving. There is a huge difference to players like ByuN and even KeeN. ByuN won 33 tournaments and earned $15000+ through the OSC system through the year, while KeeN won 9 tournaments and only $2100. For me it makes sense that ByuN gets an advantage in the championship which is meant to be the grand finale of these achievements.
The part I really liked is that this format truly felt like a championship. We built our way up through the qualifying groups over four days watching a wide variety of players battling each other. We had the intense playoff matches as players clawed for a place in the championship bracket. Then we had the grueling bracket itself, which was long and intense, but really did pay off. It was fun and really felt so different to any other event I have cast in a long time.
Imo it's biggest flaw was that it is confusing to those unfamiliar with OSC and the fact it's a large point system, and it's not easy to understand who goes where in the event without that.

Hey, I'm sorry for bumping up such an old thread, but I've been trying to find the VODs for these finals with no success
They're not in the OP, not on the Liquipedia page for the event (http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/OSC_Championship_4), not on the Gauntlet's Youtube channel, and a couple of posts before has a link to a VOD on the GauntletSC2 channel that doesn't exist anymore.
Can someone help? Thanks!
