No one predicted them to not take a single map. Just to not get out of any group

it wasn't known yet that the korean scene is collapsing

And? This is still 200K for the winner and you're supposedly playing against weaker players this year :p

pretty sure this affects the mentality of the players. I don't think it's a coincidence that foreigners are now catching up after 18 years of complete korean dominance at the exact same time all the teams are disbanding.

of course it's not a coincidence. Still the future of the sc2 competitive scene lies more in the foreign scene than in the korean scene if you ask me. sc2 is still relatively popular in AM/EU/CN while it always felt the game was being forced down Korea's throat and that they'd rather still play BW.

The fact that we see close to 0 Foreigner vs Korean offline game this year and that for the first time foreigner could actually live of starcraft has nothing to do with it.

no, but i do think that this is a 500k prize pool tournament, and that no external problems should prevent a guy like solar to win against elazer

I don't think they've left the practice house yet. At least the KT players haven't.

On a side note, foreigners took 8 maps off koreans so far before the groups are over.
Koreans are still favorites sure, but where are the people who said foreigners wouldn't take a single map :>

No one predicted them to not take a single map. Just to not get out of any group

Some TL guys did on various threads some months ago

it wasn't known yet that the korean scene is collapsing

I mean the foreign scene was effectively dying before the WCS changes.

yeah but because it was sucked out by a scene that shouldn't really have existed in the first place
