That and he shouldn't have gone for the cancel on the third imo. The roach/ling he made early on could have been drones, which he then had to add during the warp prism harassment, so his roach/ravager army ended up being smaller than it could have been.

That game was most likely going to be decided before the main mines out imo. Maybe you are right though, i don't do much 2basing vs z anymore

Yeah I think he just shouldn't have stopped making units to tech.

He needed to be around ~60 drones instead of ~50 (like he was after the third cancel) otherwise he's on even economy with roaches vs blink/immortal, so i feel he had to drone up but i agree with not teching. Protoss two base hilarity has always been at its best vs zergs that try to tech against it.

yeah I think he was 100% fine if he just masses ravager ling. The lurker transition was far too costly for him to safely afford.
What I find interesting is that, even though kespa claims zerg is underpowered, coaches still pick lots of zerg players. In a sense they should pick Ts and Ps, since they, according to kespa, have better chance.

They have Bunny, also SKT sends lots of zergs, for example in last season finals.

Well, you send out your best players for every map and situation. So go figure what SKT thinks of their Terran lineup.

this match has me really excited. I followed 3 Protoss players as a fan at different times of my SC2 life : MC, Rain, then Zest. The three of them had a huge influence of me (yes, I was a crazy all-inner in WoL). Having MC vs Zest in Proleague is like a dream coming true.

still the problem with Rain vs Zest is that it's not much of a clash of styles. Zest vs MC is, though obviously atm Zest's skill level should be waaaay higher.

funnily enough i started off liking protoss when i got into starcraft and i saw a proleague game and Rain was on and i wish i rememberd the set but he was destroying some terran on this map with storms in warp prisms and i fell in love. then after that summer i embraced the zerg but rain was still one of my all time favs

OK, I agree MC winning is pretty dope, but what actually happened there? They both played the same composition, but MC came out brutally better from the fight, while having less bases and upgrades? Are we really back to the "win 1 fight by better positioning" era of colossus wars, or is there more behind it?

he controlled better -good usage of warp prism and back off micro throughout the fight- and while he indeed had worst upgrades and eco, he had a better spread and slightly more immortals. He killed Zest's immos quite quick and that did the trick.

MC had more immortals and more archons, making his army better by default. Also Zest microed and macroed like shit.

Like what the casters said, by going with DT tech, Zest was behind in Immortal count compared to MC. I think MC's superior immortal count won him the game despite the upgrade disadvantage.

MC gambled by getting a faster forge and skipping Blink in the early game for more immortals and a really quick Charge, allowed him to barely hold Zest's push along with good micro. Blink stalkers suck ass in high supply immortal/archon/chargelot fights. After that he had to push because if Zest gets 3/1 vs MC's 2/0 and faster fourth you can easily get overwhelmed by zealots and archons even if you have more immortals. MC's window was really, really small because overcharge can sort of make up for an immortal deficit, but he had perfect execution in the final fight.
edit: i think the DT drop was ok, especially because MC couldn't get anything done with his oracle/adept opening, so they were on perfecly even economies before that. 5/6 probes, forcing cannons and a ton of mining time lost of two DTs is not bad.

MC had slightly better army composition and he hit a moment when he had more army (Zest had 10 workers more). So two small advantages already. He also maneuvered his army better, attacking separated chunks of Zest''s army while maintaining the concave. And he hit the timing just before Zest's upgrades and base advantage gained him anything. I'd say it was some refined play, not 1 better fight.

MC micro was better through both big engagements, not only positioning

Well they had equal supply but MC had more immortals. Also he had more army overall while Zest had more workers. Zest also invested in a 4th nexus and plus 3 attack which didn't came into effect for him.
MC managed to defend the warpprism from Zest right before the attack as well, but we only saw this on the minimap. That was another 10 supply Zest lost.
It was a timing MC had to hit, 2 minutes later Zest would've been too far ahead.

not too mention that when MC fought at Zest's third, a good portion of zest's army was set up on the ramp to his fourth, negating a lot of zest's army's damage

I don't think so. I doubt anyone can deny that MC was the better player there. Zest failed his macro floating ressources several times and MC took risks with his opener and had the better micro overall (the adept fight at the beginning, his immortals well protected and the huge concave at the end). MC had a small window where he is ahead after his successful defense and just killed Zest before upgrade/economy disadvantage could hurt him.

The real question is, how does he lose so rarely while floating so much money? Why does he always have enough units while floating so much money? The world will never know.

Outside of fights his macro is ridicolous, he just really prioritizes micro during fights. It's going of the opposite of Soo who just amoves and injects xD
That said his PvT is better than his other two matchups by far imo.

Well he cant micro for shit either, compared to MC.. so how the fuck is he one of the best in the world?????
Usually very slick BO early on but in later stages he tends to float ressources. Also Zest can micro very well, today... was just not his day. Lots of weird micro mistakes.

The thing is that Zest's micro in engagements isn't even that good.
Like I'm pretty sure Stats could outmicro him in a fight and still macro better behind it.

he thrives when it doesn't really matter how fast you get to 200/200 but how well you set up your infrastructure and prepare for the late game. If MC doesn't hit that timing he's a full set of upgrades and 10 workers + 4th behind. That's the reason why he's so good atm in PvT and was so good in PvZ in HotS.

Outside of fights his macro is ridicolous, he just really prioritizes micro during fights. It's going of the opposite of Soo who just amoves and injects xD
The thing is that Zest's micro in engagements isn't even that good.
Like I'm pretty sure Stats could outmicro him in a fight and still macro better behind it.
Before fights i don't think so. I remember a Zest game vs Taeja in which at 9 minutes Zest overran taeja with ~170 supply of blink stalker/adept/chargelot as standard, but somehow, someway behind it he had 5 bases, two stargates, a fleet beacon, templar archives, and two forges. At 9 minutes. That's just ridicolous.
Don't forget Zest isn't the most consistent player from game to game, and even though his average level is incredible, he can throw in really bad games from time to time.

That's a little overkill on the anti However I would like to see the ability to buy extra points for the team by overkilling on anti, even at 2:1 or similar rate.

That would be soooo great!

dark and hero on anti sounds horribly inefficient
It worked this week.
Oh wait we're still doing #NoTrades
herO didn't really work
He gets negative points for losing the ace match so it worked alright in the end for Rude, no?
How many points exactly I still don't know how this works apparently
Ele pls, help out my lazy ass
So he gets -4 an +4 on anti for both herO's matches and -1 (or -2) because he was fielded (twice)?

You will never earn point for players on anti. If the score would be negative, the anti score is zero. This is based on several observations and is probably intended, because the "bug reports" never generated any reply from any staff.

That's what I thought. So you should avoid putting players on anti that get fielded and win a lot

Trust is the next Protoss bonjwa anyways. KT just feels this need to field a Zerg no matter what.
KeSPA is forcing them. "Keep fielding Leenock and Losira until Blizzard buffs Zerg." "But we want to field Tru-" "LEENOCK OR LOSIRA. OR JJAKJI ONCE PER ROUND!"

Too much personality for KT. In fact they should trade zest for innovation. He'd fit them much better.
I'd say INnoVation for Losira is a fair trade atm. They're both winning similar amounts of Proleague games atm, but Losira is still in both leagues. So actually SKT would be winning out.

Are you sure? I'm sure I've seen Solar on anti give positive points because he lost his match and the ace match.

Are you sure? Because I am sure something like that happened and I got no points and even more people bitched about it in the FPL thread and nothing ever happened. So maybe it's different depending on exact circumstances, or was changed at some point in time, or one of us has it wrong ... But I am sure about it at least being perceived as a problem by more people than just myself, but we could have all just miscalculated something or I don't know.
i think it was round 1 of last year where Solar was so horrendously bad (either 0-6 or 1-6, something like that) and he kept losing ace matches that he actually was worth negative points, ie giving points to those who had him on anti.
its true though that for the most part an anti team will always take some points away, the obvious goal is to choose the anti team that will make you lose the least. Performances like Solar's are rare
What. The. Hell. This is the first time in history that a player has ended a round with negative points. This is an historic failure that will likely never be repeated again. It's a mystery why Stork decided to send him as their ace even during this interminable downward spiral, even on days when he wasn't fielded in the starting lineup. Savor it folks, because we'll be referencing it for the rest of time.
Haha friggin MC, goes in and takes out the best player on KT instantly.
Zest really played into MC's hand though, engaging in a bad position with 97 army supply to 68. Had he engaged properly from the start and not blinked his stalkers onto the immortals I think he could've done it there, or at least traded evenly and win with his 4th base.
MC's micro is insane however! Such great engagements!

You missed the part where that has nothing do with whether you should be excited over a ceremony or not? Because it wasn't MC's play that people cared about. It was the dumb fucking water spitting that is on 4 different threads on the front page.
But given your reply, I assume you enjoy watching the Kardashians
I genuinly wonder what the hell goes onto people's mind. "OH WOW THIS GUY BEAT ZEST. AND NOW HE IS SPITTING WATER OUT. I BETTER GO MAKE A THREAD ON REDDIT ABOUT HOW HE SPITS OUT. SO INSANE SO MUCH PERSONALITY".

Ofc it was about MC winning the match against Zest. MC a huge fan favorite, retired, comeback in proleague against one of the best players in the world, he then wins the match and does a ceremonie. You completely neglect the context here which is simply ridiculous. I also don't see the similarities between a ceremonie and the Kardashians (?). Yes people enjoy "content" outside of the actual game as well, so what? Do you have to care for this kind of stuff? No. But it gives people easily memorable moments and definitely lets you stand out between all the other players. It only works because he actually wins though, nobody would care if he didn't.

Shouldn't you be posting this on reddit?
Can't go against the Kardashianjerk on reddit. I just think of them as reflecting the general community. Also, I don't really care, but I just think its "facsinating" what some people find awesome.
